As a Senior Systems Engineer (Network), you will be working as a consultant responsible for providing network project implementation, post-sales consultancy, and network maintenance support, particularly in the area of network architectures (LAN, Data Centre, and WAN). You will also be involved in hands-on operations in network maintenance.
What will you do?
- Progressively own technical design in implementation of technical solutions, ensuring quality and driving towards the highest levels of customer satisfaction.
- Manage and implement network infrastructure projects covering Telecom Networks (LAN & WAN) and security systems.
- Work with project team members to implement and deliver projects until commissioning.
- Assist Project Manager in various aspects of project implementation, including network design, site preparation, risk identification, and mitigation.
- Deliver assigned tasks within the delivery cycle of a project.
- Perform network/systems configurations, troubleshoot errors/problems, monitor and/or test systems performance, and contribute to the design of technical solutions.
- Provide proactive solutions to prevent problems and resolve technical issues.
- Liaise with external vendors and user environments within the project cycle.
- Gather business and application requirements to plan, design, install, test, and implement systems according to specifications and service levels.
- Align or enhance ITSM/ITIL methodologies in daily operations (e.g., Change, Incident, Problem, Release Management, and CMDB).
- Monitor and measure the performance and availability of systems proactively; implement corrective actions to improve performance and service level availability.
- Respond promptly to incidents, conduct root cause analysis, and provide resolutions to escalated incidents.
- Implement service continuity measures, including backup/restore procedures and disaster recovery plans.
- Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for all implemented networks.
- Assist in the preparation of proposals and solution presentations.
- Evaluate internal and external business environments to develop long-term strategies for the unit/organization.
- Apply business and financial knowledge to address business issues and drive the business.
- Establish and promote effective business operations across multiple countries and/or regions.
- Attain key certifications for partnership with key vendors.
The ideal candidate should possess:
- Diploma/Degree in IT-related discipline.
- 3 – 5 years of hands-on experience.
- Experience in implementing and administrating network devices such as switches, routers, and firewalls.
- Experience in implementing and administrating advanced network routing protocols such as BGP, MP-BGP, EIGRP, and OSPF.
- Experience and knowledge in implementing MPLS L3VPN, L2VPN, EVPN, and Segment routing.
- Experience implementing advanced switching technology including DC Fabric, Fabric path, MC-Lag, VPC, and VXLAN.
- Experience in administration and troubleshooting in a network environment.
- Exposure to protocol analysis tools used to troubleshoot layer 2 & 3 issues.
- Exposure to carrier-grade network equipment (Cisco ASR9K, NCS5500, N9K, Huawei NE5000E, NE40E, Juniper MX2000, MX960) is an advantage.
- Able to work as a team member and independently, self-motivated and highly customer-focused.
- Certifications such as CCIE/HCIE/CCNP and other relevant IT industry certificates are preferred.
- Good understanding of Internet routing protocols and technologies including TCP/IP, OSPF, BGP, MPLS/VPN, Segment routing, and EVPN.
- Good understanding of Network Automation, Python, and Ansible is preferred.
- Knowledge of routers/switches architecture and software upgrade procedures.
- Good analytical and troubleshooting skills in technical fault isolation and rectification.
- Good working knowledge of multiple vendor equipment like Cisco, Juniper, and Huawei routers.
