The Technician assists the Director of Engineering, Asst. Director of Engineering, Engineering Manager, Chief/Senior Maintenance Officer & Maintenance Officer with the day-to-day operations of Engineering, in line with Conrad standards, brand pillars and prescribed Hilton policies and procedures.

What will I be doing?

• Ensure all mechanical and electrical systems including all piping and fittings throughout the hotel are working satisfactorily. Fabricate, repair, and maintain mechanical and electrical systems, structures, and equipment inclusive of sanitary, plumbing, waste, and choke manhole etc.
• Repair and maintain all mechanical equipment, kitchen equipment, laundry equipment, heat recovery, fresh air supply and exhaust air fans, rubbish bins, trolleys, wheels, and all mechanical fittings.
• Install or repair meters, starters, switchgears, fittings, wiring, vacuum machines, cables, and all electrical, gas, and fuel-operated machines throughout the hotel.
• Inspect and replace all fused lamps inside and outside the hotel including grounds, gardens, and swimming pool lights.
• Report and maintain television sets, antennas, signal boosters, and amplifiers.
• Observe and report any equipment, switchgears, or wiring which are not functioning properly and rectify them.
• Check and conduct weekly test runs of the generator set and also battery water level, engine oil, indicator water etc.
• Maintain daily log sheets for readings of temperature and pressures of electrical, air-conditioning systems, water supply, and heat recovery systems.
• Check and repair defective flushing systems, toilet bowls, urinals, basins, and ventilation pipes.
• Check and repair all valves for hot and cold water and chilled water systems.
• Check all water pump systems, heat recovery, flush tanks, water tank heaters, and swimming pool, inclusive of all valves for hot and cold water systems and chilled water systems.
• Do cement and tiling work for all walls, car parks, beams, pillars, post, floor tiles, vinyl tiles, long bath, and basin grouting, pipe and service risers, and staircases.
• Construct edges, kerbs, and pelmets.
• Weld copper, galvanized, and steam pipes.
• Install and repair washbasins, long baths, toilet bowls, and urinals.
• Check, repair, and replace washers, gaskets for taps, and valves.
• Carry out all work in connection with plumbing and masonry.
• Perform duties as per safety and fire operation drills when the need arises.
• Respond promptly and positively to all guest requests, even if it does not directly concern the department or job.
• Carry out shift/split shift or when called upon to perform odd duties whenever a person of the same category/trade falls sick/on vacation/in-camp training or is absent from duties or as called upon to do so from time to time as required or directed by supervisors.
• Coordinate and report to Maintenance Officers on job assignments and inform them of movement to enable easy and quick location in case of emergency.
• Assist in keeping workshop areas, plant rooms, and other equipment rooms clean at all times.
• Any other job assignments as and when required by superiors.
• Participate in the annual fire evacuation drill exercise / building inspection conducted by FSSB.
• Carry out any other reasonable duties and responsibilities as assigned.
