Technical Superintendent

The Technical Superintendent/Senior Technical Superintendent has the overall responsibility for the safe, economic, and efficient operation of vessels assigned. He/She ensures ships are managed and operated in accordance with organisational policies, operating procedures, and management systems. He/She is also alert to analyse risks and ensures compliance with the organisation's risk management framework.

The Technical Superintendent/Senior Technical Superintendent ensures that all procedures are adhered to and comply with International Safety Management (ISM) and classification rules. He/She may also be required to liaise directly with the ship-owner and respond to any charter or technical and operational queries.

The Technical Superintendent/Senior Technical Superintendent possesses a strong understanding of the technical knowledge of ships and keeps abreast of industry standards and regulations. He/She is well organised, able to work in a team, and may occasionally be required to sail onboard ships.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Acquire and allocate resources to support operations.
2. Analyse market data to identify business opportunities.
3. Analyse nature and causes of serious breakdowns and damages.
4. Analyse risk management data.
5. Brief crew on organisational policies, documentation, and procedures.
6. Conduct appraisals of crew members.
7. Consult with manufacturers for specialist advice and guidance.
8. Coordinate with service engineers and contractors.
9. Maintain relationships with ship owners.
10. Manage compliance with risk management frameworks, policies, and processes.
11. Monitor operating costs and submit quarterly budget follow-up reports.
12. Monitor ship defects list.
13. Oversee allocation of resources to ships.
14. Oversee ship compliance with regulatory requirements and legislation.
15. Prepare specifications and evaluate tenders.
16. Propose improvements to workflows to improve efficiency.
17. Update clients on ship status.
