The Technical Superintendent/Senior Technical Superintendent has the overall responsibility for the safe, economic, and efficient operation of vessels assigned. He/She ensures ships are managed and operated in accordance with organisational policies, operating procedures, and management systems. He/She is also alert to analyse risks and ensures compliance with the organisation's risk management framework.
The Technical Superintendent/Senior Technical Superintendent ensures that all procedures are adhered to and comply with International Safety Management (ISM) and classification rules. He/She may also be required to liaise directly with the ship-owner and respond to any charter or technical and operational queries.
The Technical Superintendent/Senior Technical Superintendent possesses a strong understanding of the technical knowledge of ships and keeps abreast of industry standards and regulations. He/She is well organised, able to work in a team, and may occasionally be required to sail onboard ships.
