Technical Design Manager

Job Description

1. In charge of technical matters of the project to provide technical support to project and site teams.
2. Ensure that the overall construction activities and details are coordinated in compliance with client’s and authorities’ requirements.
3. Lead and manage a team of design Engineers in coordination of design drawings with consultants to comply with authority requirements.
4. Set goals and targets to ensure that conflicts and discrepancies within and amongst disciplines are resolved timely for construction on site.
5. Review and provide solutions to technical problems, as well as planning, monitoring, and reporting work progress for building and civil projects.
6. Assist PM in overall planning, BIM coordination, construction methodology, and checking of drawings.
7. Conduct Technical Meetings, VDC meetings, etc., to ensure goals and targets set for conflicts and discrepancies are resolved timely.
8. Ensure that all records/information is properly kept for all activities and events for claims for cost and Extension of Time.
9. Upkeep all submissions, responses for the submission and approval. Monitor the status of the submissions and pursue responses from the relevant parties once the response is due.
10. Formulate value engineering with consideration for time, cost, safety, and quality for PM’s review.
11. Actively involve and contribute in technical discussions, site planning, and site meetings.
12. Maintain good working relationships with all parties.
13. Maintain good communication with all other departments.
14. Take proactive measures, propose ways to prevent cost overruns, especially related to design.
15. Develop and maintain Standard Work Procedures for all critical and major work activities.
16. Ensure that the drawings/BIM models are updated to the latest information available.
17. Ensure that the as-built and O&M manuals are prepared correctly and timely.
18. Assist PM in the preparation of Project BIM Execution Plan with reference to the Corporate BIM Execution Plan.
19. Other duties which may be assigned by management.

Job Requirements

1. Degree in Civil Engineering or relevant disciplines.
2. Minimum 10 years of relevant working experience.
3. Proven track record in construction projects.
4. At least 3 years of experience in a design consultancy firm will be an added advantage.
5. Independent, diligent, meticulous, and highly motivated with excellent team spirit.
6. Strong understanding of structural engineering principles and practices.
7. Strong familiarity with authority submissions and regulatory requirements.
8. Strong communication skills with consultants, clients, authority/government agencies, and site supervisors.
9. Proficient in Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, and knowledge of BIM.
