Job description
The Safety Engineer is responsible for ensuring system safety across various projects, particularly focusing on software systems and infrastructure components for small to medium scale projects.
Key responsibilities include:
Establishing Safety Environment: Setting up a safe working environment for the system.
Identifying Hazards: Recognizing potential hazards within the system boundaries, including both software systems and infrastructure components.
Hazard Analysis: Analyzing hazards to determine causal factors.
Developing Safety Requirements: Creating and defining system safety requirements and mitigation controls.
Reviewing Work Products: Ensuring all work products adhere to safety standards.
Maintaining Hazard Records: Keeping detailed records of hazard controls.
Producing Safety Reports: Compiling safety assessment reports with input from various engineering disciplines.
Software and Infrastructure Safety Engineering: Applying safety engineering principles to both software systems and infrastructure components.
Defining Verification Methods: Establishing verification methods for safety requirements.
Assessing Residual Risks: Evaluating and concluding residual risks post-mitigation.
Limited Supervision: Handling safety issues independently under limited supervision.
Understanding Development Lifecycle: Having a basic understanding of the system development lifecycle.
Safety Standards and Guidelines: Being familiar with safety engineering principles, design guidelines for safety-critical systems, safety governance frameworks, policies, processes, and software safety standards and methodologies.
