System Engineer (Application Performance Monitoring experience preferred)

The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the stability, performance, and security of servers, monitoring tools, backup solutions, and privileged access systems. This role involves close collaboration with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable and secure IT services, with hands-on involvement in tools such as AppDynamics, SolarWinds, CyberArk, Commvault, and Trend Micro Deep Security.

Key Responsibilities

1. Manage and upgrade (Unix/Windows) Servers. Both in-place and migration.
2. Regularly upgrade and patch infrastructure tools, ensuring systems are up-to-date with the latest features and security updates.
3. Provide ongoing support for infrastructure-related issues, troubleshooting both hardware and software problems, and ensuring minimal downtime, especially Lenovo hardware.
4. Implement security protocols, conduct audits, and apply necessary patches to safeguard infrastructure from external threats.
5. Work closely with development teams to ensure the applications and infrastructure supports their needs and is optimized for performance.
6. Ensure backup and disaster recovery strategies are in place, performing regular backups and restores as needed.
7. Use monitoring tools to track infrastructure health, performance, and availability, providing regular reports to leadership.
8. Utilize SolarWinds for continuous monitoring of network devices, servers, and applications to identify performance issues and provide proactive solutions.
9. Implement and manage CyberArk solutions to ensure secure management of privileged accounts, performing audits, and ensuring compliance with security protocols.
10. Hands-on experience with AppDynamics for monitoring, maintaining, and supporting application performance across complex infrastructure environments.

Responsibilities related to AppDynamics include:

1. Monitor and analyze application behavior to detect performance issues and anomalies.
2. Perform routine maintenance, patching, and version upgrades of AppDynamics agents and components.
3. Generate and deliver regular performance reports with KPIs and trend analysis.
4. Troubleshoot agent-related issues (Java, .NET, Machine Agents) and ensure consistent data collection.
5. Work closely with application and infrastructure teams to optimize monitoring coverage.
6. Maintain accurate documentation of configurations, processes, and troubleshooting steps.
7. Perform capacity upgrades (scaling up/scaling out).
8. Implementing security best practices, fixing monthly vulnerability scans.
9. Work experience in WOG environment.
10. Working in Commvault backup solutions and Trend Micro Deep security.
11. Maintain accurate documentation for systems, configurations, and processes.
12. Inventory management in ITSM and track inventory of assets.
13. Yearly audit works like Host Compliance Report and ASA.
14. Collaborating with application teams and supporting for P1 incidents.
15. Flexible to work during maintenance window and any on-call support.

Required Skills and Qualifications

1. Education: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
2. Experience:
   • Hands-on experience managing Windows Server (e.g., 2016, 2019 and 2022) or Unix Server environments.
   • Familiarity with Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy management.
   • Must have experience in Hypervisors, Infra tools like backup, antivirus etc.
   • Good to have experience in monitoring tools, PAMS etc.
   • Hands-on experience in AppDynamics platform operations, including configuration, and support (involvement in maintenance, patching, and version upgrades of monitoring tools).
3. Technical Expertise:
   • Proficiency in virtualization technologies (VMware, Nutanix).
   • Experience with backup and recovery tools (e.g., Commvault, NetBackup).
   • Patch Management tools (e.g., BMC).
   • Monitoring (SolarWinds).
   • Competency in using AppDynamics for dashboard creation, alert setup, and health rule configuration.
4. Certifications:
   • Microsoft certifications (e.g., MCSA, MCSE) preferred.
   • VMware certifications (e.g., VCP) or Nutanix certifications are a plus.
   • SolarWinds, CyberArk and AppD.
5. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
6. Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
7. Ability to prioritize tasks and work effectively under pressure.
8. Good documentation skills and experience using knowledge bases or runbooks.

Preferred Qualifications

1. Knowledge of ITIL practices.
2. Familiarity with Linux/Unix systems is a bonus.
3. Flexible to learn new things.
4. Open to work after regular office hours.
5. Added advantage if having certifications in SolarWinds, AppD or CyberArk.
