System Engineer

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the systems engineer will provide engineering design, technical configuration, and drawing of various telecommunication systems.

He/ She will possess extensive knowledge and experience in engineering design of telecommunication, safety & security, and marine navigation systems covering technologies such as IP Infrastructure, WIFI WLAN, Firewall security, IP-PABX, PAGA, CCTV, VCS, TETRA/DMR UHF/VHF Radio, GMDSS Radio, GEO/MEO/LEO VSAT, IPTV, Radar, Gyrocompass, etc., and provide engineering design, technical configuration, proof of concept, as well as drawing instruction of various telecom systems.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of engineering design and ensure a thorough understanding of client requirements to propose the right solution to fit the specifications.
• Produce engineering documents (VDRL) and address client comments in a timely, high-quality, and accurate manner.
• Produce scratch drawings and guide the AUTOCAD drafter in creating the engineering drawing deliverables.
• Adapt industry standards and best practices into the engineering drawing preparation, design, review, and submission.
• Guide in-house technicians for equipment assembly and cabinet integration; implement system configuration, simulation, testing, and verification.
• Conduct factory acceptance testing (FAT) for clients and provide in-house training to clients as well as commissioning engineers.
• Perform any other ad hoc tasks required for business needs.

Requirements

• Minimum diploma in telecom or equivalent technical discipline.
• Proven 4-5 years of experience in a similar role within industrial markets.
• Ability to articulate and share concepts with customers and suppliers.
• Ability to work with cross-functional teams and lead the team.
• Objective-driven, time-sensitive, and resourceful.
• Certificate of AUTOCAD will be an added advantage.
• Site commissioning/radio surveying experience as per SOLAS/MODU will be an added advantage.
• Ability to use various coverage tools such as CadnaA for PAGA, Ekahau for WIFI coverage, and iBwave for UHF/GSM coverage will be an added advantage.
