Risk Management Group works closely with our business partners to manage the bank’s risk exposure by balancing its objective to maximise returns against an acceptable risk profile. We partner with origination teams to provide financing, investments and hedging opportunities to our customers. To manage risk effectively and run a successful business, we invest significantly in our people and infrastructure.

Job Purpose:

This is a role within Consumer Banking Group (“CBG”) Credit Team, supporting Singapore CBG Credit Head in providing leadership and effective management of the credit approval process by setting strategic objectives that will contribute to the overall growth, profitability, and customer satisfaction of the Bank’s consumer lending portfolios.

Responsibilities:

  • Work collaboratively with technology and operations teams to align credit approval processes with digital initiatives and leverage automation opportunities.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to the credit approval team, ensuring alignment with DBS values and culture.
  • Set clear performance objectives and ensure the team is adequately trained to make informed decisions.
  • Manage capacity to ensure the team has sufficient resources to handle credit applications volume efficiently.
  • Stay updated on relevant industry regulations, compliance requirements and internal policies.
  • Ensure that credit approval process adhere to all applicable laws, regulations, and the Bank’s policies.
  • Foster effective collaboration with key stakeholders, including business, risk management, legal and compliance to ensure smooth customer journey throughout the loan application process while maintaining a sound credit processes and controls
  • Lead the team and collaborate with key stakeholders to establish and implement credit underwriting strategies in alignment with overall risk management framework.
  • Establish and enforce credit underwriting policies, procedures and standards that are compliant with regulatory and internal policies requirements.
  • Drive continuous optimization efforts, including automation and straight-through processing (“STP”) to streamline workflow and enhance efficiency.
  • Lead and develop the team, embedding the Bank’s PRIDE! value and risk culture through clear communication of expectations, robust risk management processes, and consistent application of policies and procedures. Promote a culture of proactive risk identification and mitigation.

Requirements:

  • Degree in Banking and Finance, Economics, Business Administration or equivalent.with at least 10 years of experience in Consumer Banking, with a focus on credit approval and risk management.
  • Proven experience in a leadership role, including managing a team in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Experience in managing stakeholder relationships and driving collaboration to achieve business objectives.
  • Demonstrated track record of driving process improvements and enhancing operational efficiency.
  • Familiarity with credit scoring models, data analytics and portfolio management tools.
  • Strong understanding of consumer lending regulations and compliance requirements
  • Knowledge of industry best practices, trends and emerging technologies in consumer banking and credit approval.
  • Meticulous with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
