Job description

The Senior Vice President (SVP) – EGA Health, APAC is a newly created position responsible for client management, including strategy ownership and support, production and delivery of client deliverables, as well as providing continuous strategic insight through monitoring and analyzing policy developments and trends in healthcare in the region. In this role, you will also work proactively to identify, secure and oversee business development, and will be responsible for the growth of EGA’s Health Sector consulting work with clients in APAC.

This role has been created in recognition of the market and client need for specialized Health Sector-specific public affairs (encompassing government relations, public policy and strategic policy communications) and advisory services in APAC. You will be part of a team that collaborates with specialists from across the company’s network, including our Edelman Healthcare Team.

The position is ideally based in Singapore (potentially Australia) and reports to the Chair of EGA APAC based in Singapore.

Roles & Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership

  • Be the EGA Health APAC leader internally and externally to ensure Healthcare Sector-specialized advisory services are delivered to clients directly as EGA and / or via the Edelman APAC Healthcare Team depending on the nature / scope of work.
  • Together with the EGA APAC Leadership and in collaboration with the Edelman Healthcare Team, lead the EGA APAC Health Strategy build up and implementation.
  • Act as the key focal with Global/APAC EGA and Edelman health client leads to help Global/APAC EGA and Edelman Healthcare leaders cascade the top-down initiatives as well as translate local market needs to upper level for awareness and support.

Account Management

  • Lead strategy development with client stakeholders and business partners to identify and organize project goal.
  • Lead day-to-day account management and serve as the working level point of contact for EGA APAC Health clients, addressing issues thoughtfully, timely and effectively.
  • Manage client deliverables from planning to execution, leveraging EGA’s global team.
  • Provide real-time counsel on strategies to various client business partners and stakeholders.
  • Manage account administration, including staffing (utilization and productivity targets), budgeting, invoicing, and reporting.
  • Pursuing new business/incremental projects for the client to address additional regional or sectoral needs as well as any communications needs for engaging the broader Edelman network.
  • Identify, secure and oversee EGA business development in the healthcare sector in APAC.

Policy Advocacy & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including government bodies, industry groups, healthcare providers, and patient advocacy organizations in the APAC region.
  • Engage with government officials, policymakers, and regulatory agencies to influence health policy and legislative initiatives.
  • Represent the company in industry associations, policy forums, and public-private partnerships.
  • Develop innovative and influential thought leadership content and represent EGA publicly as a subject matter expert.

Policy Research and Analysis

  • Continually monitor and analyze policy, legislative and regulatory developments across various markets in the APAC region.
  • Conduct research and analysis on health policy issues, including economic, social and political trends, as well as regulatory developments.
  • Prepare policy briefs, position papers, and other communication materials to support advocacy efforts.
  • Provide thought leadership on emerging health policy issues and trends in the APAC region.

Team Leadership and Development

  • Lead and mentor a team of health policy professionals across markets in the APAC region.
  • Foster a collaborative and high-performance team culture.
  • Provide opportunities for professional development and growth within the team.

Basic Qualifications:

  • At least 12+ years of experience in government, NGOs, associations, or private firms leading work related to relevant region or sector.
  • Degree (BS/BA, MA, MBA) in a related discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proven track record of expertise in the policies or politics of the Healthcare Sector, preferably in the APAC Region.
  • Solid Pharmaceutical or Medical Device industry background (agency or inhouse).
  • Sensitive to the communication restrictions and compliance requirements in healthcare industry, especially in pharmaceutical companies.
  • Familiar with MNC clients and can adapt matrices organization with high levels of communication - both presentation, verbal, and written skills in English.
  • Commercially aware and business savvy.
  • Impressive emotional intelligence and interpersonal expertise.
  • Have experience of managing and formulating budgets.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proven and respected thought and business leader.
  • Experienced in effectively influencing, managing, and developing diverse teams.
  • Proven ability to support the development of effective pitches for new business, as well as advance internal initiatives.
  • Relationship builder, demonstrating an ability to listen and respond to a wide variety of constituencies.
  • Work and / or living, experience in APAC markets outside home market/s.
