The role of the Sustainability Executive or Senior Sustainability Executive is to promote and support Sustainability activities in the ASEAN region. Reporting to the Senior Sustainability Manager of the Sustainability Promotion Unit (SPU), the successful candidate should have a keen interest in Corporate Sustainability as well as being an excellent communicator and a person who is interested in “getting things done” for the good of our people and planet. The candidate should have experience in event management, be able to communicate across multiple media platforms for both internal and external stakeholders, and be capable of developing and managing multiple Social Contribution activities while ensuring the smooth delivery of these events.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Lead internal and external stakeholders to design, review, co-ordinate, and execute Social Contribution events, initiatives, and programs locally and in the region, such as the Hitachi Young Leaders Initiative (HYLI).
  2. Liaise with internal and external stakeholders, developing appropriate communication channels and messages to promote and support Sustainability and Social Contribution activities locally and in the region. Understanding of and experience with digital communication tools, particularly social media, to enhance outreach is preferred.
  3. Consistently support work on developing and implementing sustainability strategies.
  4. Conduct human rights due diligence surveys or other ESG surveys as needed.
  5. Monitor, collate, report, and summarize local and regional Sustainability and Social Contribution news, trends, and regulations to enable global information sharing.
  6. Handle administrative tasks such as invoicing and monthly reporting.
  7. Provide administrative support to ensure compliance with legal and company policies, including preparing, tracking, and archiving legal and finance documents to ensure proper documentation and timely payment to vendors.
  8. Participate and be actively involved in assigned Hitachi Asia projects when required.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  1. Possess a diploma or degree with relevant experience (e.g., experience with sustainability, human rights).
  2. Candidates with experience in managing/organizing events and/or strong project management skills are preferred.
  3. Candidates must be confident in handling both traditional and new communications technologies (such as digital marketing and social media marketing).
  4. Be open-minded and willing to develop constructive, cooperative working relationships with others while maintaining trust, respect, and cooperation at all times.
  5. Self-motivated, independent, and result-oriented with a strong analytical mindset. Must possess the ability to multi-task and work to meet deadlines. Must be flexible and willing to be stretched into new areas of work as required.
  6. An excellent command of the English language, both written and verbal.
