Assess, plan, implement and evaluate care for patients in the appropriate discipline under the direction of the Nurse Clinician in the individual units.
Provide high quality patient care in various disciplines by performing clinical procedures that will meet the patients immediate physical and emotional needs.
Provide clinical support to the Respiratory services through counseling of Asthma, COPD patients and their families with regard to the diagnosis, treatment and expected outcomes.
Empower and educate patients towards self-care for Respiratory conditions through patient education and tools.
Provide advice and assistance to Asthma / COPD patients via telephone follow up to assess their progress and address any related issues.
Prime dialyzer and bloodlines.
Record patients medical information and vital signs.
Oversee the dialysis treatment from start to finish.
Administer prescribed medications and blood products during and after dialysis.
Cannulate dialysis access.
Ensure staff practices in relation to hospital infection control protocols and correct any non-conforming practices by reinforcing good clinical practices while on daily ward rounds.
Work alongside the clinicians and assist with clinical procedures that will meet critically ill patients health needs and care demands.
Collaborate and discuss with the multidisciplinary team on the desired health outcomes that can be achieved for critically ill patients.
Provide and observe the safe management of advanced forms of respiratory support, invasive monitoring and drug infusions.
Work alongside the surgeons providing instruments, needles, swabs and other materials as required, and anticipate their needs.
Prepare the operating room for surgery by procuring appropriate equipment, supplies, consumables and infusions required for the procedure.
Check all equipment prior to surgery to confirm smooth and proper functioning.
Handle and operate equipment to be used on patients competently.
Ensure safety of surgical instruments, equipment and consumables used during the procedure.
Triage each patient and determine priority of care based on assessment of physical, psychological and social needs.
Perform focused patient assessment of chief complaint, medical history and medications to ascertain history and medical condition in a timely manner and according to established triage guidelines.
Assist with CPR and other emergency treatment and stabilize patients condition in collaboration with the physician.
Job Requirements:
Diploma in Nursing or State Registered Nurse Certificate.
Relevant Advanced Nursing Diploma or equivalent is preferred for candidates applying for the Senior Staff Nurse position.
