In this role you will drive Mechanical Engineering services design, construction and implementation of enterprise data centers, which meet quality and performance levels across the globe.

You will work directly with our Design Engineering Stakeholders, Construction, Operations, and Commissioning teams within your assigned region in APAC. You will be the Mechanical Engineering representative on behalf of the Data Center Engineering Team responsible for the successful delivery of projects.

You will assist in Data Center site selection, planning, and development. You will maintain the highest performance standards and utilize innovation to reduce PUE, water consumption, CAPEX and increase efficiency. As an experienced Mechanical Engineer you will evaluate different cooling systems and make a data-driven decision about a suitable solution based on our guidelines. You will be an integral part of our work to change the world through technology.

Key job responsibilities

Responsibilities

  1. Participate in site selection reviews, work with local utilities to understand and define site utility requirements, and work with internal teams to understand user requirements.
  2. Design and collaborate with other disciplines to create a construction document set.
  3. Create designs which meet or exceed our quality requirements and fall within our budgetary requirements.
  4. Work with regional vendors and manufacturers to specify the appropriate mechanical equipment including Air Handling Units, Computer Room Air Handling Units, Chillers, Cooling Towers, Sequence of Operations & Controls systems, Fire Detection/Suppression systems - Review and approve equipment submittals.
  5. Define project scope and provide technical support for information requests prior to, and during construction phases. Work with commissioning teams to properly test and validate installation, operation, and performance of mechanical systems. Travel to sites for site review and work with onsite field engineers and Operations.
  6. This position will involve 20% travel within APAC region and occasionally globally.

The DC Design Engineering team at ADSIPL consists of Architects, Structural, Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Fire Protection, Controls Engineers working to design the next generation of Data Centres. The team is committed to achieving a world-class uptime for our customers and strives to develop a fleet of buildings emphasizing security, safety, and efficiency, while finding new ways to meet our growing demand. We justify and communicate the technical decisions we make directly to AWS leadership, work hard to drive continuous advancements in our designs. Basic Qualifications

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical engineering or relevant discipline.
  2. 8+ years of mission-critical design experience.
  3. 5+ years of experience in project management.

Preferred Qualifications

  1. 10 years of experience directly related to data center design and in-depth understanding of related critical equipment.
  2. Masters degree in Mechanical engineering or relevant discipline or Professional Engineering license.
  3. Experience reading and interpreting design, equipment and construction specifications and drawings.
  4. Knowledge of building codes and regulations across the APAC region.
  5. Experience with fast track design/build projects and/or multiple significant upgrade projects.
  6. Ability to research new designs, technologies, and construction methods of data centre equipment and facilities.
  7. The ability to perform complex business cases to justify technical decisions and present the justification to management in a high level review.
