Develop sourcing project scope, operational and commercial requirements, perform sourcing, selection & order management of OEM / Build-to-print / Design & build suppliers to support aerospace engineering project requirements.
Lead in meetings, negotiations, and management of suppliers and maintain strong working relationships with their management.
Ensure best practices and compliance with global policies and company procedures.
Develop and execute negotiation strategies with suppliers to optimize product quality, costs, and secure on-time delivery performance.
Proactive management of supplier risks including anticipation, resolution, and communication.
Work cross-functionally to ensure that the needs across key business functions such as finance, demand planning, logistics & legal are met.
Analyse customer demand trends and recommend long-term sourcing strategies to optimize costs, delivery performance & inventory status.
Liaise with suppliers to address design & manufacturing issues.
Take part in continuous improvement projects or secondary duties as assigned.
In the case if you are being assigned as an on-site (local or overseas) customer representative in a suppliers’ facility, your responsibilities are as follows:
Programme Management Support
Ensure all milestones in the programme schedule are met in a timely manner.
Manage & keep track of all technical & quality issues found at the supplier site.
Coordinate & liaise with various stakeholders (Programme, Quality, Manufacturing & Engineering, etc.) to drive effective & suitable solutions to monitor & mitigate programme schedule risks.
Generate periodic reports to the programme office on all issues related to delivery schedule, design, manufacturing and quality.
Conduct periodic programme management meetings.
Identify & manage all potential programme risks through the Risk Register.
Periodically track fabrication and procurement status (material, hardware & tooling) to ensure on-time delivery of the parts/assemblies.
Monitor sub-contractor production at various work centres on-site to ensure that manufacturing capacity is able to meet production requirements & resources (machines, equipment, labour, etc.) are properly managed to deliver the planned output.
Engineering / Manufacturing Support
Manage & keep track of all design & manufacturing enquiries raised by suppliers & ensure enquiries are closed in a timely manner.
Coordinate & disseminate drawing change implementations with suppliers.
Manage & keep track of all manufacturing configuration control files due to drawing change implementations.
Liaise & monitor supplier manufacturing process change implementations.
Recommend manufacturing tooling/process improvement to suppliers as & when necessary.
Recommend potential design improvements through supplier manufacturing feedback to achieve improvements in lead time & cost.
Quality & Delivery Support
Screen & assess outgoing supplier non-conformity reports for completeness and accuracy.
Keep track of Quality defects investigation & follow-up on corrective & preventive actions.
Check delivery documentation is in order before delivery.
Handle & resolve any last-minute supplier logistic issues.
Requirement
Diploma/Bachelor Degree in Engineering.
3-5 years of relevant experience.
Good to have Aerospace/Aviation industry experience.
