The Children and Youth Group (CYG) in The Salvation Army Singapore serves hundreds of vulnerable children and youth yearly. In line with our vision to provide a continuum of care to uplift those in need, our services span from preventive services, foster care and residential services to reunification support services for vulnerable children returning to their natural families after being removed due to safety concerns. We believe that every child is precious and unique and children grow best in families.
Kids In Play is one of our key programmes and it aims to support and empower families and children who have a parent in prison. We provide professional support to address the impact of parental incarceration on children and caregivers, help to strengthen familial bonds and facilitate the reintegration of incarcerated persons with their families.

RESPONSIBILITIES
About the job
As a Social Worker at Kids In Play, you are expected to provide social work services and therapeutic interventions to children, their caregivers, and incarcerated parents. You will work with the Kids In Play staff team in delivering group work and family bonding programmes.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Casework Management:
- Register and orientate new families through the intake process, and provide information and referral services.
- Provide casework and counselling services through home visits and prison visits as part of the intervention plan, including aftercare services to facilitate reintegration and reunification.
- Utilize therapeutic approaches and intervention strategies in working with children, caregivers, and families.
Volunteer Training:
- Screen, recruit, train and develop volunteers for programmes as required.
- Brief and de-brief volunteers regularly as part of training and equipping.
Group Work:
- Plan and facilitate group work sessions for children and youth.
Programme Planning:
- Plan and execute programmes and activities for children, youth, and families aligned with the centre's vision and mission.
- Conduct review and evaluation of programmes for future improvements.
Community Work:
- Collate and analyze needs of our target population of clients.
- Assess and bridge the gap between stakeholders and beneficiaries.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Degree in Social Work from a recognized university.
- Accredited as Registered Social Worker with SASW.
- 1-2 years of direct social work experience preferred.
- Experience in working with children and youths and their families.
Job Requirements
- Registered Social Worker preferred.
- Keen to work in the children and youth sector.
- A good communicator, team player, with strong conflict and interpersonal skills.

OTHER INFORMATION
Working Hours
Total work hours is 44 hours per week. Under normal circumstances:
- 9am to 6pm (Monday to Friday, 1 hour lunch)
Weekday evenings and Saturdays are usually non-working hours but subject to operational needs.
