About Department and Purpose of the Position

As an Oncology Pharmacy Operations and Business Unit Development Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing the operations and business strategies related to the NCIS oncology pharmacy unit. Partnering with the NCIS Oncology Pharmacy Head, you will assist to formulate and manage the delivery of NCIS strategic goals and initiatives through administration of collaborations, clinical operations support, service contract and project management activities including planning and integration of care provision, coordination of efforts, formulate business proposals for cost-effective and sustainable value-based care models and corporate strategy activities, for NCIS and its satellite sites, and the upcoming NUHS cytotoxic compounding hub. This role involves providing leadership, coordinating with various stakeholders, optimizing processes, and ensuring effective delivery of oncology pharmaceutical services.


The position requires an independent and self-driven individual with a deep passion for public healthcare and is keen to take up enriching opportunities to further develop his/her career and growth in healthcare administration.

Key Responsibilities
1. Operational Management

  • Oversee day-to-day operations of the oncology pharmacy, ensuring efficiency, accuracy, and compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
  • Manage inventory, procurement, and distribution of oncology drugs and related supplies to meet patient needs.
  • Streamline processes to enhance productivity and minimize errors in drug dispensing.

2. Inventory and Supply Chain Management

  • Manage procurement, storage, and distribution of oncology medications and related supplies, ensuring adequate stock levels and minimizing waste.
  • Implement inventory control measures to optimize stock rotation, reduce costs, and maintain accurate records.

3. Compliance and Quality Assurance

  • Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and pharmacy standards related to oncology pharmaceuticals.
  • Implement quality control measures and perform regular audits to maintain high-quality pharmaceutical services.


4. Process Improvement

  • Identify opportunities for process enhancement and operational improvements to optimize efficiency, accuracy, and safety within the oncology pharmacy.
  • Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to implement changes and monitor outcomes.


5. Financial Management

  • Develop and manage the budget for the oncology pharmacy unit, optimizing resource allocation and controlling costs while maintaining quality of care.


6. Business Development

  • Develop and execute strategic business plans to achieve growth objectives and expand the organization's presence in the oncology market.
  • Identify new markets, partnerships, and growth opportunities in the oncology sector to drive revenue and market share.
  • Conduct market research and analysis to identify trends, competitors, and potential market gaps in the oncology industry.
  • Utilize data-driven insights to develop targeted marketing strategies and adapt business plans to changing market dynamics.


7. Collaboration and Communication

  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals, including oncologists and nurses, to ensure effective communication and coordination in patient care related to oncology medications.
  • Act as a point of contact for internal and external stakeholders, addressing concerns and facilitating effective communication channels.


8. Team collaboration and leadership

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including oncologists, nurses, and administrators, to ensure alignment and effective execution of business development strategies.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to the business development team, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and accountability.


Key Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree from an accredited institution, or
  • A good degree in any discipline with at least 10 years of relevant working experience. Exposure to, or experience in healthcare finances, practical knowledge or ownership of hospital operations, and project management carry added advantages
  • Relevant experience in oncology pharmacy management or a related healthcare role.
  • Strong knowledge of oncology pharmaceuticals, treatment modalities, and protocols.
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with healthcare professionals and contribute to a multidisciplinary team.
  • Understanding of regulatory compliance and quality assurance in pharmaceutical services.
  • Fluent in English and have a flair for numbers
  • Meticulous and analytical, possess good organisational and coordination skills as well as good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Driven, passionate and service oriented
  • A system level thinking mindset and confidence to work in a fast-paced and changing environment
  • Well-versed in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Able to work independently
  • Positive and can-do attitude
