Position: Shift Supervisor

The Shift Supervisor will be tasked to lead a team of biotechnologists to execute process operation steps to ensure the timely completion and delivery of batches.

The Shift Supervisor is a first line leader serving the following 2 key functions:

  1. Management/ supervisory function on the shopfloor, leading the team, providing guidance and making decisions with respect to process issues.
  2. First line technical expert on the shopfloor, troubleshooting, investigating issues and ensuring the development of technical competency of biotechnologists.

The Shift Supervisor reports directly to the Operation Manager.


Responsibilities
  1. Management
  2. Ensure the morale, discipline and well-being of the team are well managed and taken care of.
  3. Ensure timely intervention and escalation of any potential conflicts and misunderstandings between team members.
  4. Monitor, plan and coordinate resources to ensure effective utilization of operational staff.
  5. Conduct performance review and development discussion sessions to provide timely performance feedback to N-1 as well as supporting individuals in the team to achieve career aspirations.
  6. Production
  7. Ensure team performance in delivering production batches.
  8. Ensure timely closure of process orders and batch records. Be the first line technical expert to lead investigation and troubleshooting of process issues and ensure timely escalation of issues.
  9. Conduct Tier 1 meetings and ensure the use of Tier 1 board, including elements of Tier 1 KPI adherence.
  10. CAPMAN, continuous improvement, issues reporting and escalation, etc.
  11. Act as a backup to run the process when there is manpower shortage.
  12. Quality
  13. Timely escalation of Quality Risks so they can be assessed.
  14. Timely creation of unplanned events in SAP.
  15. Ensure the team's compliance with all relevant LSOP/Batch record requirements.
  16. Perform timely review of documentation including batch records and make necessary corrections.
  17. Participate in cGMP self-inspections to ensure compliance with internal LSOPs and regulatory requirements.
  18. Responsible for ensuring high housekeeping standards and discipline on the shopfloor.
  19. Support and facilitate self-inspections and coordinate for plant pre-audit preparation to ensure audit readiness.
  20. Training and Development
  21. Ensure that all biotechnologists are trained in accordance with the training matrix.
  22. Provide support and guidance to new joiners, ensuring their smooth transition to the new environment.
  23. Develop oneself as a process Subject Matter Expert (SME).
  24. Guide junior employees to ensure knowledge transfer for business continuity.
  25. Assist in conducting on-the-job training of the team.
  26. Safety
  27. Ensure safe and secure operations in the facility.
  28. Identify and resolve potential safety issues or risks together with the team.
  29. Support and facilitate safety audits and follow up on the recommendations.
  30. Responsible as the primary work permit approver for the respective area.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
  1. A Diploma/Degree in any Engineering or Science related discipline.
  2. At least 10 years of experience in a pharmaceutical manufacturing plant as manufacturing technicians or graduates with a minimum of 4 years of relevant work experience in an engineering or supervisory role.
  3. Knowledge in SAP transactions.
  4. Knowledge in cGMP and safety issue management.
  5. Knowledge in biotechnology equipment.
  6. Good troubleshooting skills.
  7. People management skills.
  8. Effective organization skills.
  9. Effective communication skills.
  10. Continuous Improvement mindset.
  11. Strong conflict management skills.
