We are seeking a talented individual to join our Insurer Consulting Group team at Marsh Asia. This role will be based in Singapore. This is a hybrid role that has a requirement of working at least three days a week in the office.


This position is for an established and productive professional individual contributor in Insurer Relationship Management, who has a background and experience in the health insurance sector. The role will have a strong level of autonomy, requiring the individual to work independently with minimal supervision, acting as a focal point for the strategic senior level relationship representing the broker (Mercer Marsh Benefits - MMB) and insurer clients. This role will have key responsibility for managing carrier relationships and providing value added consulting services to Marsh's ICG strategic carrier partners in the health insurance space. The role objectives include achieving ongoing annual targets as well as leadership and delivery of bespoke consulting projects.


We Will Count On You To


  • Build and maintain effective and sustainable relationships with executive management at strategic carriers in the health insurance sector.
  • Prospect and secure new insurance companies as clients across the Asia region in the health insurance space.
  • Identify and understand the carriers requirements and needs, and work with Marsh, Mercer & Mercer Marsh Benefit colleagues to match these with firm capabilities. Provide connections with different parts of the organization to connect teams to generate new business as appropriate.
  • Understand strategic carriers business objectives and lead the development of custom solutions to address the carriers needs. Effectively present ideas to the carriers as required. Work closely with Insurer Executive Sponsors ensuring they are well briefed on relationship themes and issues.
  • Ensure that strategic and tactical plans are developed in conjunction with strategic carriers. Ensure carrier activity scorecards are in place and actively monitored to compare performance against plan for both financial and non-financial objectives.
  • Utilize all data available to optimize analytical capabilities and to create more effective tactics with strategic carriers. Facilitates additional research and analysis on various markets or industries as designated to find new areas of opportunity for Insurers to improve their business performance with MMC.
  • Work with internal colleagues to develop and expand MMB ICG offering to continue growth of MMB ICG revenue.
  • In conjunction with the Asia team, set and achieve/exceed annual revenue budget for the health insurance sector.
  • Actively engage with local market Lines of Business to ensure their strategies & priorities are understood and accurately represented to strategic health insurance carriers.
  • Work with local offices & teams in the region to ensure they understand performance and reporting requirements under the ICG agreements. Work with them to improve effectiveness and early detection and solution of problem areas for these key clients. Develop strong relationships with professional counterparts within Asia as well as other regions through regular and structured engagement both on an informal and formal basis.
  • Develop carrier briefing reports that are specific to the Region as required for provision to regional, local and international colleagues.
  • Address escalated issues and concerns in a timely and effective manner, help manage expectations, mitigate relationship risks and apply judgement as to when to escalate major issues to colleagues while ensuring compliance.
  • Contribute to and promote ICG's and MMC external image, expand professional networks and support strategic partners through press, articles/papers and external presentations.
  • Support insurers meetings and significant events. Regional travel is required.

What You Need To Have


  • Degree holder with at least 10 years of relevant experience in the health insurance industry in Asia.
  • Good commercial acumen with demonstrated capabilities to manage and grow a book of business.
  • Excellent communication and engagement skills, comfortable dealing with stakeholders to C- level.
  • Smart, collaborative, relationship and outcome focused with the ability to make decisions where ambiguity exists. Able to work autonomously and adapt in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Ability to demonstrate sound judgment in the prioritization of competing work assignments, escalation of issues and the formulation of solutions.
  • Effective organization and consulting skills with key attention to detail and delivery of high-quality documentation with the ability to implement/influence change.
  • Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines and changing priorities.
  • Strong analytical problem-solving skills and experience around the use of data to manage and improve performance.
