Who we are and what you will be working on:

The Design Practice is part of the Government Technology Office (GTO) of GovTech. It’s part of a team of Practices across different technology domains (Product Management, Software Engineering, Data Engineering and AI) that looks at providing technical and functional leadership, growing capabilities, and exploring the use of emerging technologies, all towards the vision of designing and building technology for public good.

We seek to inspire action, experimentation, and collaboration at every level of the organisation — helping teams connect closer and listen better to the people we’re designing for and solving the right problems.

As a senior member of the team, you’ll be part of shaping our newly-formed Research Team, working within the Design Practice team to establish and evangelise the value of discovery research and strategic problem definition.

Your primary responsibilities will be:

• Delivering high-quality research, insights, and experience/service/product strategy with our agency partners and product teams
• Working closely with the head of the research team to establish and evangelize the value of discovery research and strategic problem definition across the organization
• Be at the forefront of shaping and scaling discovery research for product development at GovTech and our partner agencies
• Collaborate with the Design Practice team to strategize and maximize the impact of design
• Foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation within the development process

• Take personal learning and development seriously, with a good attitude toward self improvement
• Take the initiative to propose changes for the benefit of all designers

What we are looking for:

• 4 - 8 years in domains such as UX, innovation, user insights, strategy, or new ventures
• Established design research and/or service design expertise, demonstrated by:

1) End-to-end innovation programs with multiple stakeholders, and/or

2) Strong expertise in design research and strategy, product strategy, service design

• Track record in navigating ambiguity, complexity, and tradeoffs in large organisations
• Been an effective advocate for the value of design research and/or service design identifying user needs and problem definition
• Excellent critical thinking, communication, and storytelling skills
• Skill at bringing diverse viewpoints together and gaining stakeholder trust quickly to influence effectively across the organisation
• Strong ability to build relationships based on authenticity, accountability, and empathy - people look to you for direction and feel supported
• Resourcefulness and inventiveness of an entrepreneurial mindset

We’d love you to have:

• Background in consulting or business development for UX
• Understanding of systems thinking, futures thinking, and/or organisation development
• Experience working with Singapore government teams
• Keen interest in Singapore’s economic, social, and cultural development
