Job Summary:

This role primarily manages the Commercial Business Packages Scheme and other Property and Casualty lines, which will involve developing good relationships within the International Broking space, performing underwriting within agreed processes and risk appetites, achieving business development and retention targets. The candidate will primarily focus on new business opportunities.

The candidate will spend the majority of their time delivering underwriting decisions, referring cases outside personal authority limits, contributing to business development activities and liaising with customers. You will need to have strong relationship management and communication skills.

Job Duties:

1. Overall management of day-to-day underwriting, ensuring a quick turnaround
2. Work closely with the Assistant Vice President, Singapore Distribution Division – Brokers and relevant Portfolio Managers to ensure profitability of the business
3. Develop and maintain strong relationships with brokers
4. Drive pipelines of new business
5. Review allocated cases and deliver underwriting decisions to secure profitable business within the agreed risk appetite
6. Generate reports to measure business performance
7. Involve in ad-hoc projects when required

Qualifications:

1. Minimum A-Levels or Polytechnic Diploma certification
2. Minimum 5 years’ experience in General Insurance broking or underwriting
3. Preferably with knowledge of Commercial Insurance
4. Established network and rapport within GI Distribution network
5. Strong communication and negotiation skills
6. Keen learner and a self-starter with ability to work independently
7. Positive attitude and ability to handle challenges
8. Proficient in Microsoft Applications
9. Hold professional certificate in General Insurance (CGI, PGI, BCP, etc)
