Senior Technical Superintendent

Responsibilities:

1. Ensure vessels undergo all required statutory and Class surveys on schedule. Coordinate technical repairs, calibrations, and safety services as planned.
2. Work closely with ship crews to maintain compliance with safety, environmental, and quality standards, minimizing operational disruptions. Regularly inspect and audit vessels per SIRE/TMSA guidelines, identifying potential risks and areas for improvement. Conduct audits for assigned ships, including at least one onboard sailing visit annually.
3. Plan and oversee maintenance, repairs, and dry-docking activities. Keep the company’s PMS updated and ensure ship staff receive the necessary technical support.
4. Monitor vessel performance to enhance efficiency and optimize CII ratings. Manage vessel budgets, keeping maintenance costs under control.
5. Review weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports, ensuring proper documentation in PMS, SharePoint, or other company databases.
6. Conduct pre-purchase inspections for potential acquisitions and facilitate vessel takeovers. Attend sea trials for new yard deliveries, ensuring all identified issues are resolved. Follow up on guarantee claims with shipyards and manufacturers until they are successfully closed.
7. Support company projects as needed and provide guidance to Technical Superintendents, Technical Executives, and Purchasers. Oversee ship staff performance, conducting appraisals for Senior Officers, Engineers, and Ratings.

Requirements:

1. Sailed as a Chief Engineer and holding a CoC Class 1.
2. At least 4-5 years of experience as a Technical Superintendent in a Ship Management or Ownership company, managing oil/chemical tankers or product tankers. Experience with gas carriers is a plus.
3. A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience as a Chief Engineer on a Product Tanker. Capable of managing ship operations independently and prioritizing tasks effectively. Hands-on experience with ME-C engines.
4. Framo systems, BWTS, and EGCS. Familiar with SIRE/CDI inspections.
5. Ability to conduct independent incident investigations.
