Senior Technical Superintendent

We are representing our client in the Shipping industry to look for an experienced Technical Superintendent. The candidate has the responsibility for the efficient operation of the ships assigned. As a member of the Ship Management Team, the candidate operates in accordance with the Company procedures and best ship management practices, whilst giving absolute regard to safety of life at sea and protection of the environment always.

Responsibilities:

1. Manage regular reports from vessels assigned to him/her and file them in a structured manner.
2. Review and follow up on routine reports from the vessel.
3. Carry out regular data analysis of costs, PMS and other KPI factors in order to ascertain health of the ship as far as ship management is concerned.
4. Maintain structure and quality of data fed into Ship manager system by crew onboard the vessels (GL system).
5. Formulate a dynamic work plan and action list with the vessel's command, to ensure that the vessel is maintained in accordance with the Owner's policy and to receive regular reports as to its progress.
6. Visit the vessels as required and report on general condition, repairs and maintenance, crew performance, safety, environmental protection, and any actions required. Discuss with Ship's Command the work plan, running costs, spares and stores and other issues of concern and reporting on same.
7. Prepare technical specs for dockings etc.
8. Conduct pre-purchase inspections in the Asia region.
9. Assist in carrying out technical analysis for new purchases.

Requirements:

1. Min 4-6 years of experience in a similar capacity on container vessels (a mix of containers and tankers will be considered).
2. Recognised marine engineering or naval architecture qualification either at sea or educational establishment.
3. Good understanding of shore-based activities and implications surrounding the role.
4. Able to administer technical and budgetary requirements.
5. Competent using Microsoft Office and other computer software.
6. Prior experience as chief or second engineer with sailing experience preferably on container vessels. Otherwise, sailing experience on cargo ships (container/bulk carrier/tanker) is required.
7. Prior experience in dry-docking.
8. Candidate should have good knowledge of Planned Maintenance System (PMS) and Safety Management System (SMS).
9. Candidate with LNG/LPG/Dual Fuel experience will have added advantage.

Singaporeans and Singapore PR preferred.
