Senior System Analyst (Infrastructure)

Job Description

Provide IT infrastructure and data management support to research groups within the school and for external collaborations.

Duties & Responsibilities

1. Oversight of infrastructure systems and testing to ensure stable operating base for IT team and research users.
2. Conduct user requirement analysis for the implementation of new systems and enhancements to existing infra systems.
3. Provide infrastructure (hardware/software), end user and data management support to research groups within the school and for external collaborations.
4. Configuration of environments and release of applications to Windows/IIS/MSSQL/LAMP environments.
5. Support of research computing environments including provisioning and import/export of data.
6. Perform Database Administration tasks.
7. Troubleshooting of issues reported in deployed applications and other research environments with developers.
8. Evaluate potential technical solutions and make recommendations to resolve business problems.
9. Maintaining data standards, including adherence to internal processes, the Personal Data Protection Act, Human Biomedical Research Act and other legislation as required.
10. Liaise closely with business users and build good rapport, follow up on concerns raised.
11. Liaise closely with developers in project implementation process, application testing, supporting application patches and documentation in accordance with NUS methodologies and policies.
12. Ensuring Security of IT Infrastructure components and maintenance norms in accordance with NUS methodologies and policies.
13. Managing the licenses and warranty for hardware/software procured for users.
14. Maintaining network connectivity to offsite offices.
15. Manage IT contracts/agreements with service providers, systems integrators (SI) or vendors.
16. Participate in Disaster Recovery team in the event of serious IT issue (some work beyond office hours may be required if activated).
17. Ensure proper documentation for IT infrastructure on-campus and off-campus.
18. Assisting in internal and external IT audit.
19. Any other projects based on current requirements.

Qualifications

1. Recognised degree in computing related disciplines, from recognised institutions.
2. Required knowledge: SQL query language, Windows Server & Microsoft SQL Server, IIS 10.
3. Experience with the following technologies would be beneficial: Active Directory, Linux (Server), EMC OneFS 9+, Terminal Services/Remote Desktop Services and basic web programming for application hosting troubleshooting (e.g. C#, ASP.net, PHP), Network administration, Cisco IOS.
4. Good team player, able to work with people of all technical levels and backgrounds (e.g. IT Professionals, Research Staff, Students).
5. Self-motivated with the ability to prioritize tasks and work independently.
6. Strong analytical skills and meticulous over details.
7. Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
