ROLE
The role of Senior Speech Therapist involves assessing clients, planning therapy interventions, implementing therapy plans, and evaluating progress, in accordance with the given service delivery model for clients with speech, language, communication, and swallowing disorders in the assigned programme.
In addition, the role includes providing supervision and mentoring to entry-level speech and language pathologists, and clinical education for students pursuing speech pathology programmes.
The job role also includes training teachers, parents, and volunteers involved in the treatment process, and educating clients and their caregivers. The role requires working collaboratively in a transdisciplinary team comprising other professionals, teachers, and caregivers to maximise the clients’ learning and development towards independence and active participation in natural settings. Further, undertaking and guiding research projects, conducting specialised clinics, and carrying out certain administrative responsibilities as directed by the head of the department also forms a part of the job role.
