We are seeking a talented Software Engineer with a strong aptitude for programming to join our dynamic Capital Market Department!
In this role, you will contribute to projects and possess the capability to make breakthroughs in design, development, testing, debugging, and implementing software applications or specialized utility programs in support of end users' needs on platforms. Capital Markets IT involves technology solutions and systems used in financial markets for trading, investment, and related activities. This includes electronic trading platforms, risk management systems, market risk, counterparty risk, algorithmic trading, data analytics, and regulatory measures. The use of advanced technologies like APIs, artificial intelligence, and cloud solutions are also becoming increasingly prevalent in capital markets to enhance efficiency and decision-making processes.
The department is responsible for the development and maintenance of Capital Market IT applications (in-house and package) used worldwide, covering Front Office (Murex, Apex, Orchestrade…), Back Office (Summit, Calypso…), Market data referential (Asset Control..), Market Risk (in-house application on big data technologies). The Foreign Exchange (FX) IT division works across the full value chain to sustain business activity and enable its acceleration. This role aims to develop on the Calypso back office package, in project mode as well as maintenance, and to support the “run the bank” function. It requires a deep understanding of the nature of business operations, timing of activities & data flowing through internal and external systems. The build and support team continuously works with business users, infrastructure engineers, and system managers.
Responsibilities
- Research, design, and develop computer and network software or specialized utility programs. Analyze user needs and develop software solutions, applying principles and techniques of computer science, engineering, and mathematical analysis.
- Identify and resolve issues which have organization-wide and long-term impact. Identify security risks, create requirements to capture security issues, and perform initial threat modeling to ensure coding standards meet security requirements.
- Develop and maintain the software configuration management plan and oversee the building, verification, and implementation of software releases. Provide guidance and technical support to the quality testing teams.
- Update software, enhance existing software capabilities, and develop and direct software testing and validation procedures.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (business analysts/support teams…) to ensure smooth integration of new features and updates and troubleshoot, debug, and resolve application-related issues.
- Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory changes relevant to capital markets.
- Participate in proof of concept for new technology R&D.
- Contribute to continuous improvement and automation by leveraging your programming skills to create custom tools and scripts that automate repetitive tasks and reduce manual effort.
- Develop scripts and automation tools using Python, shell scripting, and other basic programming languages to streamline processes and improve efficiency.
- Engage and support others in the team, readily put forth ideas in a clear and compelling manner.
- The candidate should have analytical and problem-solving skills, a pro-active mindset in security, and a proven ability to work individually under pressure. Team player with good interpersonal skills. Very good communication skills and keen to work with business users.
- Collaborate with computer hardware engineers (CAGIP and ITS) to integrate infrastructure constraints (whether on-premise or cloud) hardware and software systems aligned with capacity, develop specifications and performance requirements.
- Build management: Develop in JAVA for Calypso v14.4 package and develop internal components.
- Incidents and Requests management (business users and other IT teams): Communicate effectively, analyze enhancement requests and bug-fixes, and document deliveries.
- Change Management: Apply monthly release strategy, following the team’s milestones for analysis, coding, and testing. Support the release roadmap in production.
- Operations management: Application support, level 3 (expert). Troubleshoot and fix issues.
- Continuous improvement: Process improvements. Coach more junior team members as required.
SKILLS
Must have
- 7+ years of relevant working experience.
- Experience in supporting capital market applications and trading systems, ideally within the dynamic landscape of Market Risk/Front Office operations with a commendable grasp of financial products (Treasury, FX, Credit, IRD, Bonds, RSF etc.).
- Expertise in Calypso Back office functionality with hands-on experience in customizations of different Calypso modules.
- In-depth knowledge of Confirmations, Settlement, Position, and Accounting modules.
- Understanding of financial assets (FX, Treasury products, repos, bonds, SLB, issuances) and trade lifecycle.
- Experience with regulatory reporting HRF, NORIA, MMSR.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with diverse teams.
