Hitachi Energy’s HVDC product group are looking for an experienced Senior Site HSE Specialist to strengthen the project team at their HVDC project.
As a Senior Site HSE Specialist you will be responsible for all matters pertaining to Health, Safety, and the Environment with respect to regulatory, company, and client requirements. You will be advising, coaching, and supporting the project team in the safe delivery of HVDC mega-projects. The Senior Site HSE Specialist will report directly to the Global HSE Manager for HVDC Sites. This role will be site-based Monday-Friday with occasional weekend work.
Your responsibilities:
You will support the project team in the preparation, set-up and improvement of the project health, safety and Environmental system (Site HSE Plan, emergency preparedness & response plan, construction traffic management plan, etc.) and participate, review, assist in the development of safety documentation e.g. risk assessments & meth od statements and permit to work.
You will provide competent, professional, and independent safety advice to the C&C/HSE Management personnel within the projects, identify and develop initiatives to drive continuous improvement on projects.
You will develop materials and deliver relevant safety training to C&C/HSE Management personnel within the projects, attend and pro-actively contribute to site inspections, toolbox talks & HSE campaigns.
You will participate in incident investigation to facilitate closure of identified actions and trains the teams on what a quality investigation looks like.
You will be a lead for culture change and drive behavioral safety within the projects, identify gaps pertaining to HSE, suggest improvement based on experience and industry best practices.
You will coach the less experienced members of the team and drive a pipeline of talent within the business, conduct periodic site HSE audits against the site-specific HSE plan and support the sites with developing action plans for closure of identified NCRs and be an ambassador for the Hitachi Energy ‘We Care’ behavioral safety program by providing coaching and support to site personnel.
You will demonstrate a strong commitment towards environmental standards, guidelines, and procedures, inform on/verify adherence to site specific environmental protection measures (e.g., waste management, wildlife protection, use/handling of substances hazardous to environment).

Your background:
Recognizable qualification in HSE (e.g., NEBOSH or equivalent) – Level 6 preferred.
Extensive experience in a similar HSE role in project business of similar size/complexity or other similar proven capacity.
Conversant with ISO 45001 (Internal Auditor Training certification in ISO 45001 will be advantageous).
Formal Incident Investigation Training.
Fluent in English (Verbal and Written).
