Job description

Job Role Description:

The Senior Quantity Surveyor is responsible for taking and analysing measurements and reviewing tender documentation. He/She will implement procurement strategies and review returned tender documents. He/She reviews cost estimates and cash flow forecasts to communicate updates with relevant stakeholders. He/She manages the complete post-contract administration processes. He/She leads project meetings with customers and supports dispute resolution matters when required. He/She builds relationships with customers and liaises with contractors, specialists, and sub-contractors to develop resource plans and monitor costs and profitability of construction works to deliver the customers’ and/or project objectives.

He/She is analytical and detail-oriented, a team player with excellent leadership skills. He/She can guide his team in solving problems and is organised, able to communicate effectively with various stakeholders. He/She will usually be stationed in the office or project work sites to perform his/her duties.

Key Tasks - Prepare Measurements and Tender Documentation

  1. Analyse Building Information Modelling (BIM) models to validate cost plans
  2. Edit contract bills
  3. Analyse schedule of rates
  4. Draft preliminaries and trade preambles
  5. Review technical specifications prepared by technical consultants
  6. Analyse measurements, admeasurements, and re-measurements

Key Tasks - Drive Cost Planning and Control

  1. Review cost analyses
  2. Review outline and detailed approximate cost estimates
  3. Analyse cost plans and detailed budgeting
  4. Review cost-in-use studies and life-cycle costing of building and installation and/or components
  5. Review cash flow projections
  6. Review cost checking processes during design development
  7. Interface with relevant stakeholders to advise alternative designs or methods of construction
  8. Review periodic cost reports

Key Tasks - Define Tender and Procurement Strategies

  1. Carry out pre-qualifications
  2. Implement procurement strategies
  3. Review documentation to invite tenders from contractors, specialists, or sub-contractors on a competitive or negotiated basis
  4. Evaluate tender returns

Key Tasks - Manage Post-Contract Administration

  1. Advise on payment regimes
  2. Analyse claims on behalf of relevant parties
  3. Review valuations and recommendations for interim payments to contractors, specialists, and sub-contractors
  4. Review and price assessment of variation cost claims
  5. Review final accounts
  6. Conduct contractual risk evaluations
  7. Lead project meetings
  8. Support the development of dispute resolution strategies
