The Senior QS plays a crucial role managing the financial and contractual aspects of construction projects. He/She ensures that construction projects are financially viable, legally compliant, and completed to the highest standards. He/She plays a crucial role in the successful delivery of construction projects by balancing cost, quality, and time.

Role

Cost Management/ Procurement

• Oversee project budgets, cost control, cost reporting.
• Manage project finances from inception to completion.
• Negotiate and handle the procurement of materials and subcontractors.

Contract Administration/ Project Management

• Prepare subcontract documents and manage tender processes.
• Prepare and manage contracts, including bills of quantities.
• Ensure compliance with contractual terms and conditions.
• Review and negotiate contract amendments with subcontractors and clients.
• Supervise and delegate tasks to junior QS staff.
• Provide commercial advice to the site team.
• Ensure projects are completed within budget and on time.

Client Liaison

• Maintain strong relationships with clients.
• Provide regular updates on project progress and financial status.
• Address client concerns and ensure client satisfaction.

Reporting and Documentation

• Prepare detailed progress reports and costings for tenders.
• Value completed work and arrange for payments.
• Ensure all documentation is accurate and up-to-date.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.
• Professional accreditation (e.g., RICS, CIOB) is often required.
• At least 5 years of working experience in a similar role within the construction industry.
