Senior Quality Engineer ( Laser Optics)

As part of the mission, we are seeking an experienced Quality Assurance Engineer to work in our Singapore Laser Manufacturing facility in Kaki-Bukit, Singapore who can drive improvements in the quality and reliability of fiber based and solid-state laser products and production processes. This role will have responsibility for developing, maintaining, and improving the Quality control systems and processes for a variety of critical laser systems as well as leading by influence to drive quality within the culture of the organization.

A successful candidate will have a strong work ethic to meet the occasional high intensity workload for customer commitments. A persuasive personality with strong communications skills is needed to influence key cross-functional stakeholders.

Key responsibilities:

1. Quality engineering support for manufacturing and project management
2. Develop inspection requirements; facilitate PFMEAs; resolve discrepant material issues and create and maintain quality documents such as control plans and inspection plans
3. Act as the quality interface for the laser production team in responding to customer complaints using failure analysis, development of corrective and preventative actions and trend analysis
4. Conduct audits, including closing out audit findings, create audit finding reports and determine proper corrective and preventative actions
5. Coach and mentor Quality Engineers.
6. Support validation activity of processes, equipment, and metrology
7. Support and comply with the company Quality System, ISO, and requirements
8. Establish and maintain quality control processes and procedures for optomechanical components and systems.
9. Develop and maintain quality documentation including inspection plan, test protocols, quality control procedures and reports.
10. Collaborate with suppliers to ensure their compliance with quality requirements and drive continuous improvements.
11. Actively participate in Continuous Improvement Initiatives such as Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma projects to enhance Quality, efficiency and cost-effectiveness.

Requirements:

1. Bachelor’s/Masters Degree in Mechanical, Optical, Optomechanical Engineering or related Engineering Science
2. 6 years of experience in engineering in a machining or manufacturing setting
3. Good experience in optic testing, optic inspection and experience liaising with optic suppliers and manufacturers.
4. Experience in Optomechanical design including knowledge of optical principles, components, and optical system integration.
5. Solid understanding of Mechanical Engineering Principles including Structural analysis, Material selection, Tolerance analysis and Manufacturing Process.
6. Knowledge in integrating optical components including alignment, fixture design and calibration procedures.
7. Knowledge of quality systems, regulatory requirements, and industry standards
8. Advanced knowledge of blueprint reading and GD&T
9. Ability to operate a variety of inspection equipment
10. Statistical expertise with DOE and Capability Studies
11. Design software- CAD (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD), Minitab, Python, JMP etc
12. Strong and thorough knowledge of quality engineering discipline, including:
    • Quality data collection and data analysis
    • Understanding of statistical methods, including population sampling, hypothesis testing
    • Problem Solving techniques such as 8-D, 5-why, Fishbone / Fault tree, PFMEA, K-T

Preferred Qualifications / Competencies:

1. Previous Laser or Optics industry experience is highly desired.
2. Familiarity with statistical analysis techniques, such as Weibull Analysis and Gage R&R, as well as appropriate software tools, such as Minitab or JMP
3. Familiarity with the following areas: Process Validations (IQ, QQ, PQ), Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA), Structured Problem Solving (8D) and/or Root Cause Analysis - Corrective and Preventive Actions (RCA-CAPA)
4. Previous experience with Risk Management, Engineering Change Control, Handling of Deviations and Non-conformances & Lean Six Sigma
5. Experience working with cross functional teams (Engineering, Operations, Sales)
6. Ability to complete tasks in a timely manner, with excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
7. Project Management Experience
8. Self-motivated, ability to identify potential problems or improvements and possess the initiative to take appropriate actions as necessary.
