[What the role is]
You will work with a team of epidemiologists and biostatisticians as well as stakeholders involved in communicable disease preparedness, policy, surveillance and response, in the design, implementation and data analysis of epidemiological studies, to deliver rigorous, timely and credible data-backed insights which support evidence-based policy making and decision as well as public health interventions.
You will be working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment that will require adaptability, pro-activeness and the ability to manage multiple priorities and stakeholders at the same time.
[What will you be working on]
You will be responsible for framing questions and formulating hypotheses that may be addressed by an epidemiological study or analysis, based on the agency’s specified policy and operational needs.
You will design, or advise on the design of, epidemiological studies including the use of appropriate methods, instruments and measurement tools, taking into account the local context, policy and operational needs, and prevailing literature. You will also provide epidemiological inputs to the development and implementation of surveillance systems for infectious diseases, support epidemiological investigations of infectious disease outbreaks, and carry out statistical data analyses to identify disease patterns and risk factors.
You will prepare comprehensive reports and present your findings to stakeholders, including translating complex scientific findings into actionable recommendations.
