Senior Product Counsel (min 10 PQE) - Global Leading Crypto Exchange

Our client is a global leader in the cryptocurrency exchange market, committed to advancing the adoption and utility of digital currencies. As they continue to expand and innovate, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Product Counsel to join the legal team.

The Senior Product Counsel will play a critical role in advising on the development and structuring of their diverse range of crypto products, including decentralized finance (DeFi) and centralized finance (CeFi) offerings, as well as derivatives products. This role requires a deep understanding of the regulatory landscape, market practices, and legal considerations specific to the cryptocurrency and financial services industries. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 10 years post-qualification experience (PQE) and a strong background in crypto product structuring or derivatives products from leading investment banks.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Provide strategic legal advice and support on the development, structuring, and launch of new crypto products and services.
2. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product, compliance, risk, and business development, to ensure that products are designed and implemented in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
3. Draft, review, and negotiate complex agreements related to product offerings, partnerships, and other commercial arrangements.
4. Stay current with evolving regulatory requirements and industry standards related to cryptocurrency, DeFi, CeFi, and derivatives markets.
5. Conduct risk assessments and provide proactive legal guidance to mitigate potential legal and regulatory risks.
6. Represent the company in interactions with regulatory authorities, industry groups, and other external stakeholders.
7. Develop and implement internal policies and procedures to ensure legal and regulatory compliance.
8. Provide training and education to internal teams on legal and regulatory issues related to product development and structuring.

Qualifications:

1. Juris Doctor (JD) degree or equivalent legal qualification from a reputable institution.
2. Minimum of 10 years post-qualification experience (PQE) in a relevant legal field.
3. Extensive experience in crypto product structuring (DeFi, CeFi) or derivatives products, preferably from leading investment banks or global markets.
4. In-depth knowledge of the regulatory environment governing cryptocurrency exchanges and financial products.
5. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to provide practical and commercially viable legal solutions.
6. Excellent drafting, negotiation, and communication skills.
7. Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
8. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
9. High ethical standards and a commitment to integrity and professionalism.
