Position: Process Technician

Role Overview:
The Process Technician supports plant operations, focusing on safety, efficiency, and quality. Working closely with the Shift Leader, the technician is involved in start-up, shutdown, daily operations, and turnaround activities, ensuring smooth and safe plant performance in a petrochemical environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist the Shift Leader in pre-commissioning, commissioning, greenfield start-up planning, punch listing, site inspections, and equipment checks.
• Support operational activities including plant start-up, shutdown, daily operations, and plant turnaround tasks.
• Carry out routine production duties such as sampling, in-process quality testing, plant monitoring and patrols, data recording, and chemical handling (preparation, loading, and unloading).
• Perform basic troubleshooting to resolve operational issues and assist technical and maintenance teams as needed.
• Monitor plant equipment and instrumentation; take corrective action to ensure safe and efficient plant operations.
• Prepare equipment for maintenance activities and ensure safe handover to the maintenance team.
• Review production schedules, shift logs, lab results, and input from the technology team to make process adjustments as necessary.
• Update standard operating procedures and assist in preparing maintenance work documentation.
• Conduct job site risk assessments and issue Permit to Work (PTW) to ensure safe work execution.
• Participate in emergency response duties, including firefighting, rescue operations, and loss containment.
• Maintain cleanliness and orderliness in the process area.
• Contribute to ongoing efforts aimed at improving plant safety, reliability, and profitability.
• Provide guidance and mentorship to junior technicians.

Requirements:

• NITEC or Higher NITEC in Chemical Process Technology/Chemical Technology, or a Diploma in Chemical Engineering.
• 3–5 years of relevant experience in the petrochemical industry preferred. However, fresh graduates with strong academic records may also be considered.
• Proactive, team-oriented, and possesses good communication skills.
• Basic understanding of HSE practices and process safety in a petrochemical setting.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
• Willing and able to work 12-hour rotating shifts at Jurong Island.
