Job description

Optomechanics Engineer – Pioneering Laser Communication Systems

If you’re an engineer who thrives at the intersection of optics and mechanics, this is the kind of opportunity that doesn’t come around often. A company at the forefront of laser communication technology is looking for an Optomechanics Engineer to help shape the future of ultra-fast, high-precision optical systems.

The Role

As an Optomechanics Engineer, you’ll play a key role in designing, developing, and refining opto-mechanical systems. Your work will directly impact the performance and manufacturability of high-speed laser communication devices. You’ll collaborate with hardware, software, and manufacturing teams, ensuring these systems meet the highest standards of precision and reliability.

What You’ll Be Doing

  1. Designing and optimizing opto-mechanical systems, with a focus on optical alignment, thermal management, and mechanical performance.
  2. Bringing Design for Manufacturing (DFM) principles into the development process to streamline production.
  3. Conducting engineering analysis to validate designs for durability, manufacturability, and cost-effectiveness.
  4. Supporting manufacturing teams with tooling and techniques for high-precision production.
  5. Managing supply chain relationships for mechanical components and ensuring seamless integration into production.

What You Bring

  1. A degree in Physics, Optics, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field, with at least two years of experience.
  2. Proficiency in CAD software like SolidWorks and analysis tools like COMSOL.
  3. Experience designing aerospace or space structures, plus an understanding of mass manufacturing and electronic component integration.
  4. Strong problem-solving skills-whether it’s optimizing optical alignment or refining manufacturing techniques.
  5. A hands-on approach, with the ability to document processes and develop standard operating procedures.

Bonus Points For

  1. Experience designing manufacturing test equipment and optical system calibration.
  2. Knowledge of geometric and modern optics.
  3. Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems like SAP or NetSuite.
  4. Mandarin language skills for working with regional suppliers.

Location & Relocation Support

This role is based in Singapore, a global hub for innovation and advanced manufacturing. Full relocation support is provided, ensuring a smooth transition for candidates moving from abroad.

Why This Role?

This isn’t just another engineering job. It’s a chance to work on technology that’s shaping the future of global connectivity-whether that’s bridging telecom gaps on Earth or enabling high-speed optical communication in space. If you’re excited by the idea of working with a team pushing the boundaries of laser communication, let’s talk.
