The Role
As an Optomechanics Engineer, you’ll play a key role in designing, developing, and refining opto-mechanical systems. Your work will directly impact the performance and manufacturability of high-speed laser communication devices. You’ll collaborate with hardware, software, and manufacturing teams, ensuring these systems meet the highest standards of precision and reliability.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Designing and optimizing opto-mechanical systems, with a focus on optical alignment, thermal management, and mechanical performance.
- Bringing Design for Manufacturing (DFM) principles into the development process to streamline production.
- Conducting engineering analysis to validate designs for durability, manufacturability, and cost-effectiveness.
- Supporting manufacturing teams with tooling and techniques for high-precision production.
- Managing supply chain relationships for mechanical components and ensuring seamless integration into production.
What You Bring
- A degree in Physics, Optics, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field, with at least two years of experience.
- Proficiency in CAD software like SolidWorks and analysis tools like COMSOL.
- Experience designing aerospace or space structures, plus an understanding of mass manufacturing and electronic component integration.
- Strong problem-solving skills-whether it’s optimizing optical alignment or refining manufacturing techniques.
- A hands-on approach, with the ability to document processes and develop standard operating procedures.
Bonus Points For
- Experience designing manufacturing test equipment and optical system calibration.
- Knowledge of geometric and modern optics.
- Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems like SAP or NetSuite.
- Mandarin language skills for working with regional suppliers.
