Senior Network Engineer - Design and Implementation (Core Services)

Apple is looking for a Senior Network Design and Implementation Engineer to join their Global Network Services (GNS) team. In this role, you will work in a dynamic team environment and be responsible for designing and implementing infrastructure in the Global WAN & ISP Backbone that includes BGP, MPLS, ISIS, and OSPF in supporting both our internal and external customers.

You will be developing, implementing, and supporting sophisticated networking solutions to address a variety of business challenges. There will be many opportunities to excel in a fast-paced and dynamic environment with the ability to multi-task and provide not only operational support but also work closely with peers in Engineering and Architecture for implementing new technologies. This role will need a collaborative team player that will work across multi-functional groups and have the ability and willingness to mentor others while maintaining a sound business approach for supporting our global footprint. Obsessing over the customer experience and driving operational excellence in everyday work will be important aspects. Besides a strong technical background, this position also requires communication skills and the ability to enjoy the dynamic nature of Apple’s environment.

Specific duties and responsibilities are:

1. Global Backbone design
2. Advanced Routing Protocols & Technologies
3. Carrier-class Routers and Technologies
4. Traffic Engineering

Minimum Qualifications

• 6 to 8 years experience with Service Provider network design and support
• Experience in operating a large-scale network utilizing BGP, RSVP, MPLS, ISIS, and/or OSPF
• Solid understanding of TCP/IP (both IPv4/IPv6)
• Experience and knowledge of Internet Routing Policies and Internet Peering
• Extensive knowledge of both Cisco IOS/IOS-XR, JUNOS and Alcatel-Lucent experience a plus.

Preferred Qualifications

• College degree (BA or BS or equivalent experience); technical degree preferred
• Experience with Network Flow Analysis tools a plus
• Ability to script using PERL/Python/Shell a plus
