The Global Risk, Security and Resilience team is responsible for managing the company’s operational risks and advising the business on other commercial, strategic or reputational challenges that may arise.

About the Role

We maintain a Senior Manager, Risk & Safety – APAC role on our team based out of the company’s regional hub in Singapore. This is a hybrid role balancing requirements between remote and on-site working. The role is also expected to travel up to 30% of the year throughout the APAC region.

Dow Jones requires a diligent and proactive approach toward risk and safety. The context in which we operate is fast-changing, risk is a part of the business and we need creative and analytical contributors. We are seeking a solution-focused professional to join our team and play a critical role supporting the company’s mission.

Reporting to the global head of risk & resilience, this position provides regional coverage working closely with departmental colleagues, newsrooms, the business and other key stakeholders to deliver a range of risk and safety/security services.

You Will

1. Work with colleagues to ensure relevant current and emerging risks to the organization and its people are effectively identified, assessed, communicated, and mitigated.
2. Forge exceptional relationships with people across the company (Legal, Cyber, People, etc.) and provide sound judgement, advice and counsel on risk, safety, security and operational challenges.
3. Contribute proactively to best practices adopted by the risk & safety organization - plan and process improvement, risk mitigation and responding to new challenges.
4. Support functional goals and responsibilities in high-risk support, workplace & event security, training, equipment management and investigations.
5. Play a key role supporting incident management through active intervention, coordination, information provision and problem solving while providing compassionate support to those involved.
6. Participate in industry working groups and follow trends in risk management and digital and physical security.

You are

1. Experienced (10+ years) in applying risk management, security and training solutions to support organizational goals.
2. Mission-focused and willing to handle a sometimes irregular schedule and dive into ambiguous situations.
3. A critical thinker, able to provide unique and innovative solutions.
4. A collegial, dynamic and proactive contributor with a desire for continuous learning.
5. Familiar with operational risk and security issues associated with challenging environments.
6. A capable communicator, able to translate complex concepts into understandable terms.
7. Reliable and responsive, capable of leading on incidents and emergency situations.

Preferred Qualities

1. Experience applying risk management, security, and training solutions within a media organization.
2. An understanding of the relationship between newsgathering, risk, and relevant legal matters.
3. Fluency in regionally relevant languages.
