Job Title: Senior Manager, Finance & Accounting
Reports to: Head of Finance & Accounting

The Client
They are a digital assets start-up in Singapore backed by one of the largest securities brokerages/investment banks in Japan. They have received in-principle approval from MAS for their CMS license in Singapore. They are at the forefront of integrating traditional financial services with cutting-edge digital assets, offering innovative derivative investment products. They are actively expanding their team to drive an ambitious growth plan over the next 24 months.
Key Responsibilities
1. Accounting Leadership:
- Act as a senior individual contributor, leading and supporting critical day-to-day accounting operations.
- Prepare and review monthly accounts, journal entries, and supporting schedules to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Oversee month-end, half-year, and year-end close processes, including Financial Statements and General Ledger account reconciliations (e.g.,
- Accounts Payable, Fixed Assets, Accruals, Cash, and intercompany transactions).
2. Financial Reporting and Analysis:
- Prepare and submit quarterly reporting packs, budget plans, and presentations with variance analysis.
- Develop and manage cash flow projections, fixed deposits, and bank account administration.
- Coordinate and submit government financial statistical surveys/data and MAS regulatory returns/surveys.
3. Regulatory Compliance and Taxation:
- Ensure compliance with Capital Markets Services (CMS) license requirements and regulatory filings.
- Prepare and submit GST returns and corporate tax documentation in adherence to Singapore’s tax regulations.
- Handle transfer pricing arrangements to ensure regulatory compliance.
4. Audit and External Coordination:
- Manage relationships with external parties, including internal and external auditors, corporate secretarial agents, and tax consultants.
- Lead the annual audit process, including preparation of audited financial statements and required schedules.
5. Process Optimization and Strategic Finance:
- Work with business and IT teams to identify and implement process improvements that enhance the efficiency and quality of financial operations.
- Serve as part of the Finance leadership team, contributing strategic insights to the short- and long-term direction of the Finance function.
6. Operational Oversight:
- Manage or oversee the preparation and review of payments, billings (including inter-company activities), and staff claims.
- Maintain company books and financial records in compliance with Singapore Financial Reporting Standards (SFRS).
Qualifications and Skills
Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA or equivalent certification preferred, or a comparable combination of education and experience.
Experience:
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive accounting or financial experience.
- At least 5 years in a management or senior single contributor role within a brokerage, wealth management, or similar buy-side environment.
Technical Expertise:
- Proficient in Singapore’s regulatory frameworks, corporate taxation, financia lreporting standards (SFRS), and GST compliance.
- Experience in handling cash flow projections, transfer pricing, and financial statement preparation
Leadership and Operational Agility:
- Comfortable "rolling up sleeves" to work hands-on with operational details while contributing to high-level strategic decision-making.
- Proven track record in identifying and implementing solutions to address critical business challenges in fast-paced environments.
