JOB SUMMARY
- Provide transactional legal support for GCM Lending and Leveraged Acquisition Finance matters throughout the Group’s offices.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategy
- Lead and take responsibility for providing legal advice, guidance and support to the Global Credit Markets business and associated stakeholders on all legal matters.
- Develop thought leadership capability as a member of the Global Credit Markets Legal team.
Business
- Ensure that regulatory reform/changes are appropriately assessed and managed from a Global Credit Markets Legal perspective.
- Maintain close relationships with appropriate stakeholders and provide them with legal advice, guidance and support.
- Provide GCM Lending related legal advice with respect to GCM Lending products.
- Provide transactional and documentation support to GCM Lending business in Asia having regard to Product Programme Authorisation (PPG)/Country Addenda (CA) parameters.
- Act as lead lawyer for complex multi-jurisdictional GCM transactions in Asia, collaborating with the relevant regional and/or country Head of Legal.
- Work with Product and other stakeholders to structure and define parameters for new products and initiatives and develop template legal documentation.

- Provide assurance to the Global Credit Markets legal team on the management of legal enforceability risk.

- Have an appreciation for where the management of legal enforceability risk fits within the overall risk appetite of the Bank.
- Establish, maintain and manage effective global processes to ensure that policies, procedures and standards addressing legal risk are effectively implemented.
Governance
- Ensure that any papers being tabled by Legal at any relevant governance committees have been reviewed from a Global Credit Markets Legal perspective.
Regulatory & Business Conduct
- Display exemplary conduct and live by the Group’s Values and Code of Conduct.
- Take personal responsibility for embedding the highest standards of ethics across the Standard Chartered Group.
- Lead the Global Credit Markets team to achieve the outcomes set out in the Bank’s Conduct Principles.
- Effectively collaborate, identify, escalate, mitigate and resolve risk, conduct and compliance matters.

- The Head of Global Credit Markets and all other members of Global Credit Markets businesses.
- Appropriate colleagues in other functions such as CFCC, Audit, Operational Risk, Credit and Tax.

- Lead from a Global Credit Markets Legal perspective on any bank-wide projects requiring input.
Our Ideal Candidate
- 8+ years experience with a strong legal background.
- Qualified to practice as a solicitor/attorney or barrister/advocate.
- Experience in private practice or in-house of managing complex legal issues.
- Understanding of risk management techniques.
- Exemplary integrity, ethics, independence and resilience.
- Completion of Group Mandatory e-learnings.
