Senior IT Architect, Cloud

Primary Purpose
The Journey-to-Cloud multidisciplinary team of cloud-native practitioners will tailor the cloud journey and architecture for our customers based on their business needs and industry compliances.

The Lead Azure Cloud Architect is a new growth role within the Journey-to-Cloud Practice. This role requires a unique hybrid of skillsets covering Azure platform expertise, Cloud-based Architecture, Data Architecture, and Digital capabilities. The Lead Azure Cloud Architect is responsible for creating the most appropriate cloud architecture for a software development project and maintaining control over the cloud architecture throughout the entire project lifecycle. This includes designing, developing roadmaps and implementation plans, and establishing the design of the cloud system while considering integration of various components, identification and mitigation of known technical risks, architectural principles, infrastructure solutions, technology standards, and best practices.

Responsibilities

1. Serve as the deep Subject Matter Expert (SME) in the development of cloud infrastructure solutions, including multi/hybrid cloud design and implementation.
2. Analyze tender/client specifications or requirements and manage the plan for multiple solution workstreams.
3. Drive and maintain the conceptual integrity of the solution design that addresses client’s business objectives and needs in order to create differentiated value propositions.
4. Constantly explore new solutions and technologies, integrating learning and recommendations into the development process.
5. Demonstrate good expertise in all major Cloud Service Providers’ products and solutions.
6. Specialize in the best practice design, operations, and support of private/public/hybrid cloud infrastructure, including Network, Storage, Compute, and Security.
7. Ensure proposed design aligns with Application, Enterprise, and Security architecture.
8. Create architecture artifacts and documentation to effectively explain architecture design concepts and solutions to various levels of stakeholders.
9. Recommend new services to complement and enhance infrastructure elements to streamline and support application development and deployment.
10. Apply knowledge of Agile software development and DevOps to infrastructure as code development and deployment.
11. Lead continuous enhancement and exploratory work to design, develop, test, and deploy new Cloud Infrastructure technologies using agile methods.
12. Identify potential and emerging technologies relevant to innovation.
13. Project management of cloud infrastructure setup and implementation.

2. Share knowledge within or with other NCS teams.
3. Participate in peer reviews to improve project quality.

The ideal candidate should possess:

1. Proven experience with architecting/operating solutions built on Azure or AWS.
2. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or related discipline.
3. At least 8 years’ experience in designing, implementing, or consulting on large-scale private/public/hybrid cloud infrastructure solutions.
4. Professional certifications in Azure, AWS, GCP (Google Cloud Platform) with at least 8 years of implementation experience.
5. Hands-on experience and strong technical skills with proven track records in IT infrastructure and/or emerging IT technologies engineering in the following areas:
6. Platform, storage, database, and virtualization.
7. Cloud infrastructure (IaaS/PaaS).
8. Container technologies like Dockers, Kubernetes, and AWS ECS.
9. Knowledge of DevOps techniques and Agile practices is an added advantage.
10. Proficient in multi-tiered architecture, design, and implementation.
11. Experience with Web and server technologies, including Virtualization, Web services, EAI, with knowledge of J2EE and SOA concepts.
12. Knowledge of client/server and distributed computing, with messaging, SOAP, .NET, and AD.
13. Strong working knowledge and ability to apply architecture concepts, frameworks, and methodologies to projects.
14. Experience in business and technical analysis, architecture design, and project management.
15. Ability to communicate IT architecture methods, concepts, standards, and policies.
16. PMP, ITIL, and TOGAF certification is an added advantage.
17. Good written and verbal communication and presentation skills, able to interact professionally with all levels of the organization.
18. Large scale migration experience Data Center to Data Center and/or Data Center to Cloud.
19. Infrastructure automation through DevOps scripting (e.g., shell, Python, Ruby, PowerShell).
