Job description

Purpose of the Role:

K2 Data Centres is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Manager to join our Business Development team. The successful candidate will support various aspects of infrastructure readiness, customer engagement, contract negotiations, project financing, and M&A activities. This role requires strong coordination with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure the successful development and operation of our data centre projects.

Responsibilities

  1. Customer engagement:

    • Engage with existing and potential customers to ascertain their capacity demands across K2’s markets or in new markets for expansion.
    • Prepare commercial proposals for bilateral customer discussions or customer RFP processes.
    • Prepare financial modelling and conduct financial returns analysis for internal approvals.
    • Support drafting and negotiation of customer service agreements in collaboration with Legal, Technical, Finance, Tax, and other colleagues.
  2. Project financing:

    • Work with Group Treasury and K2 Finance on project financing, including engaging with lending banks and drafting and negotiating facility agreements.
  3. M&A and Deal pipeline:

    • Review M&A opportunities, including info memo review, financial model review, and sell-side engagement.
    • Conduct financial modeling, valuation, and financial returns analysis of shortlisted opportunities for internal approval.
    • Work with cross-functional teams for holistic deal assessment.
  4. Infrastructure readiness:

    • Collaborate with relevant utilities providers in each market, alongside Technical and Site Selection colleagues, to secure essential services such as power, water, and connectivity (e.g., fibre).
    • Coordinate with existing and potential customers to align their power requirements with utilities procurement contracts.
    • Draft and negotiate utilities contracts in partnership with Technical and Legal teams.
    • Oversee internal capital budgeting and internal reporting/ presentation for capex deployment related to utilities delivery within K2’s sites.
  5. Design and Supply chain coordination:

    • Prepare commercial terms in design consultant and supply chain contracts for RFP preparation, in tandem with Technical, Legal, Finance, and other colleagues.
    • Negotiate and review submissions by design consultants and supply chain tenderers.
    • Review cost plans by external Quantity Surveyor and finalize overall cost plan for internal capital budgeting purposes.
    • Participate in contract negotiations in collaboration with relevant colleagues.
    • Manage internal budgeting and internal reporting/ presentation for design consultants and supply chain contractors.

Skills set and Qualifications Requirements:

  • At least 3-5 years of working experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting & Finance / Corporate Finance / Economics from a well-recognised university
  • Strong Financial modelling skills required, and certifications would be seen as an advantage
  • Effective communication and presentation skills with demonstrated experience engaging with multi-national counterparts
  • CFA / CPA qualifications would be seen as an advantage
  • Knowledge of the data centre industry would be seen as an advantage
  • Personality suited towards a fast-paced, dynamic work environment where the individual will be required to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to work as a strong team player who can quickly and effectively connect with and leverage off the strengths of colleagues.
