Job description

Job Purpose

Responsible for shaping and executing strategic communications that promote the mission, causes and work of the Singapore Red Cross (SRC). This individual will develop and manage content to amplify SRC's visibility and impact.

PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES

Storytelling and Content Creation

  • Develop and implement strategic communication plans to promote SRC's services, initiatives, and key priorities through compelling narratives and messaging tailored for diverse stakeholders.
  • Write impactful authentic stories that showcase the impact of SRC's programmes.
  • Write and refine speeches and key messages for key stakeholders that align with organisational goals.
  • Develop inspiring content that illustrate the efforts of our staff, volunteers and partners, that demonstrate the power of humanity.
  • Provide copywriting, design counsel and advisory support to requesting departments and team members on a range of collaterals for online and offline channels, such as web stories, videos or for exhibitions etc.

Volunteer Management

  • Recruit, train and manage a team of volunteer writers, guiding them in best practices for storytelling, interview techniques, and content development.
  • Coordinate assignments, deadlines and deliverables for volunteer writers to maintain a steady flow of impactful stories.
  • Conduct Volunteer Skills Training for writing to build capacity to strengthen SRC's volunteer base ensuring effective engagement, training, and development to enhance organisational impact.

Brand Compliance

  • Maintain and enforce SRC's brand integrity by ensuring compliance with emblem protection standards, adhering to established SOPs, and managing proper usage of branding elements, including the implementation of new logo guidelines.
  • Act as a custodian of corporate identify by maintaining and updating corporate identity guidelines and templates.

Project Management and Quality Assurance

  • Oversee end-to-end production of written content, ensuring high standards in story-telling, accuracy and brand voice.
  • Manage timelines and review processes to meet deadlines for story releases, speeches and other content.

JOB SPECIFICATION

Qualifications

  • Degree in Mass Communications, Marketing, Business Administration or a related discipline

Experience

  • At least 5 years of experience in Communications or Journalism
  • Excellent written and spoken English and a 2nd language (Mandarin, Malay or Tamil)
  • Good grasp of written, editorial and oral communications
  • Passionate about strategic communications, cause marketing, new media and content creation
  • Relevant experience in NGO, NPO, charities, or the social services sector would be an added advantage

Additional Skills and Knowledge

  • Good command of both spoken and written English
  • Excellent computer literacy; familiar in Google Workspace and Microsoft Suite
  • Proficient in AI generative tools and applications to effectively contribute to projects and writings
  • Passionate and have knowledge on social media usage and content creation
  • Understanding of the unique challenges and opportunities within the nonprofit, humanitarian, or social services sectors
