Participate in the design, development and modification of mechanical systems in conventional and non-conventional vessels including offshore vessels/rigs.
Perform mechanical calculations such as equipment sizing, pipe sizing, heat load calculation, and hydraulic pressure loss calculation for piping & ventilation.
Ensure the mechanical system designs (machinery layout & piping schematics) comply with classification rules, marine/offshore regulations, and vessel/rig contract specifications.
Prepare documentation for drawing lists, equipment lists, piping material estimation, etc.
Familiar with marine system operations.
Competent in marine system sizing, engine room/machinery space arrangement, system design, and preparation of technical specifications.
Prepare equipment specifications and material request forms for procurement use.
Liaise with equipment vendors, vessel/rig owner representatives, classification society surveyors, and other relevant authorities to resolve technical issues as required.
Review and approve vendor certified documents and drawings.
Support in tendering for all ship types.
Develop 2D engineering drawings using CAD software.
Experience and familiarity with LNG system design, rules, and regulations.
Familiar with various classification rules (ABS, BV, DNV, LRS, etc.) and regulations (MODU, SOLAS, API, etc.).
Understand the principles of machinery equipment and onboard systems.
Good communication and analytical skills. Experience in the entire design process from basic design to production design.
Minimum 5 years’ experience in basic design and engineering relevant to the construction of Marine/Offshore Units.
