We are seeking a Senior Director, Sustainability, to be part of the management team responsible for leading the sustainability framework across all the business units within Singtel Digital Infra Co (DI CO) with a specialized focus on Nxera Data Centre. This role is expected to act as a change agent and subject matter expert for sustainability related matters within the organization, working closely with and leading other relevant departments such as operations, products, and strategy to achieve the organization’s sustainability aspirations. Beyond the organization, this role must advocate for sustainability initiatives externally to establish Nxera as a Green Data Centre leader and support the sales of greener offerings in the region.

Job Responsibilities

  • Develop and be responsible for the sustainability strategy of DI CO and galvanize various functions within the organization to achieve collective goals.
  • Stay updated with sustainability industry trends, risks, and opportunities to support strategic planning and facilitate discussions with key partners, including collaboration with the Group Sustainability function.
  • Manage end-to-end sustainability related matters for energy, water, and waste across DI CO, building strong working relationships with other functional teams to integrate sustainability ownership and inspire positive changes across the organization.
  • Set up processes and controls for collecting, organizing, and reporting ESG information, including collecting, validating, calculating, and aggregating ESG data for reporting purposes for DI CO and the Group.
  • Own shared accountability for sustainability metrics (e.g., PUE, WUE, carbon emissions) with the operations team and maintain accountability for the sustainability improvement roadmap strategy, ensuring adherence to industry best practices.
  • Collaborate with the strategy team on green innovation and partnerships with external parties such as IHLs, research units, governmental organizations, and technology companies.
  • Serve as the subject-matter expert within DI CO in developing sustainability opportunities and equip other functions with the necessary sustainability competencies.
  • Manage the total sustainability budget to deliver the sustainability strategy.
  • Perform other relevant duties as assigned to support the business growth of our organization.

Job Requirements

  • Possess a Degree in Engineering (Mechanical and Electrical/Electronics Engineering).
  • Minimum 12-15 years of experience in a technical and/or sustainability domain, with at least 5 years in a leadership position in large facilities management.
  • Experience in leading cross-functional teams to develop sustainability strategies for mid and long-term ICT operations, especially in Data Centres.
  • Familiarity with green Data Centre requirements and operations, energy management, and sourcing knowledge.
  • Understanding of the Data Centre industry, operational concerns, and technical limitations/commercial customer demands.
  • Experience in environmental management systems and carbon management sustainability.
  • Strong project management skills, including the ability to manage and balance tasks, costs, and time effectively.
  • Dynamic personality with strong inter-personal and communication skills to engage diverse stakeholders within and beyond the organization.
  • Strong understanding of the renewable energy landscape in the region.
  • Aptitude for implementing environmental concepts (e.g., carbon foot printing, design-for-environment, etc.).
  • Preferred certifications include:
    • Singapore Certified Energy Manager
    • Green Mark Manager
    • ISO1400 series qualification
  • Familiarity with environmental and carbon reporting standards (e.g., CDP) and sustainability reporting according to various standards such as GRI, SASB, etc.
  • Knowledge of carbon accounting and ISSB standards.
