Job description

Responsible for the risk assessment of counterparties and the establishment of credit limits, the analysis of the overall credit exposure, the recommendation of terms of credit and the negotiation and management of security necessary to support higher risk exposures. Approval of credit limits, within delegated authority and obtaining the necessary approval for exposures exceeding authority, approval of risk categories, and release of blocked orders. Actively support the Traders in credit issues. Provide support to the Credit Manager as required.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the risk assessment of customers, negotiating and managing security arrangements, establishment of appropriate credit limits within necessary DOA and the analysis of the overall credit exposure.
  • Negotiate with counterparties on LC terms and conditions, including LC value, tenure and issuing bank, taking into account the contractual terms, the feasibility of document compliance by operations/backoffice and the creditworthiness of the issuing bank.
  • Manage Accounts Receivable.
  • Perform detailed financial analysis of customer financial statements for development of a risk profile of each customer using analytical results to establish credit limits within designated authority level and prepare analysis write-up to obtain necessary approvals for decisions exceeding designated authority level.
  • Ensure compliance with Credit policy. Responsible to perform control within timeline.
  • Meet/communicate with counterparties credit/finance team to establish understanding of customers financial condition and business model as needed to complete credit analysis and to negotiate security when financial condition does not support credit exposure.
  • Prepare, verify, track and publish daily credit report for all approved counterparties for physical and paper transactions. Flag credit limit exceeds and decide on an appropriate course of action, such as obtaining an LC/cash collateral/waiver to cover the exceeded credit exposure for physical/paper transactions.
  • Negotiate favourable credit status and limits with counterparties for trading entities.
  • Responsible for the re-assessment of credit-worthiness of customers based on re-evaluation triggers, and timelines.
  • Ensure that appropriate credit terms are captured in deal recaps and contracts.
  • Verify that all LCs are issued and/or received in good order from counterparties in a timely manner.
  • Obtain the required company documents for registration and perform credit assessment on new counterparties. Prepare the credit file containing all relevant information, recommend credit terms/limits and obtain approval from the Credit Committee.
  • Perform annual reviews on existing counterparties. Immediately review once exigencies occur and request for any necessary additional information from the counterparty in question.   • Liaise and negotiate with counterparties for parental guarantee or payment undertaking issuance and ensure that the terms and conditions are acceptable and suitable for application against our business with the counterparty, in consultation with our legal advisor.
  • Keep and update listing of parental guarantees issued to and received from counterparties for tracking and renewal purposes. Ensure that hardcopies of guarantees are also filed appropriately.
  • Provide documents for registration of trading entities with counterparties.
  • Stay abreast of commercial developments for all approved counterparties, banking developments, fluctuations in ratings and country risks by scouring information from counterparties, news, internet and applicable sources.
  • Perform ad-hoc administrative duties such as maintaining updated records of counterparties particulars and list of deactivated counterparties.
  • Responsible for ensuring that both Proactive and Reactive credit control takes place and ensuring that counterparties debt are collected in line with contracted payment terms.
  • The authorities decision would also need to be executed and documented by this role.
  • Recognize financial risk situations on Trade Receivable Accounts. Exercise manual blocking of orders on high financial risk and seriously delinquent accounts. Recommend A/R provisions for bad debt and action to reduce the Credit limit for reduce the exposure risk.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor Degree required.
  • Minimum 6-8 years of experience in similar capacity within the commodity trading industry.
  • Strong negotiation, credit risk and analysis skillset.
