Senior Compliance Officer (Banking Industry)

Role and Responsibilities

• Assist the Head of Compliance in strengthening Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Countering Terrorism Financing (CFT) control measures to establish a robust framework for the Bank.
• Conduct customer due diligence and end-to-end evaluation of new and existing customers (including post-transaction reviews) to ensure compliance with the Bank’s AML/CFT/Sanctions policies.
• Review and assess alerts generated by transaction monitoring systems to identify potential money laundering risks, working closely with relevant business units to investigate as needed.
• Contribute to the enhancement of Compliance Department policies and procedures, identifying areas for improvement and implementing process simplifications to support better systems and methodologies.
• Lead or support various bank-wide initiatives, AML assessments, reviews, and ad-hoc projects initiated by the Compliance Department.
• Provide timely updates to management on key compliance issues and risks.
• Maintain integrity and professionalism at all times while ensuring compliance documentation and audit trails are accurate and complete.
• Perform other tasks assigned by the Head of Compliance as required.

Requirements

• Degree or equivalent academic qualifications.
• At least 5 years of experience in Compliance, with a strong understanding of AML legal and regulatory requirements (e.g., MAS Notice 626).
• Good knowledge of financial markets and banking products/services.
• Strong analytical skills with a high level of attention to detail.
• Demonstrates drive, curiosity, sound judgment, and organizational skills.
• Effective communicator and team player with a structured, logical approach to tasks.
