As a Senior Automation Engineer, you will be primarily responsible for leading and driving labor efficiency improvement in an assigned cluster of processes through automation solutions. We collaborate closely with respective process, equipment, and new product owners to identify improvement opportunities, then design and implement solutions through external benchmarking and close partnership with automation vendors. In this role, we will lead in all stages of automation solution from idea generation, design, deployment to production release. In addition, through our knowledge and expertise, we will feedback automation design rules to the new product introduction team (wherever applicable).


Responsibilities:


  • Coordinate and collaborate with the Site Manufacturing and Engineering team to identify gaps and improvement opportunities.
  • Analyze process flow, product movement, equipment layout, and operator assignment to identify labor efficiency wastes.
  • Prepare and set up brainstorming sessions with multi-functional teams to generate ideas for improvement opportunities.
  • Evaluate improvement ideas based on return on investment, quality, and safety/ergonomics improvement.
  • Propose improvement ideas to management for approval.

Design automation solutions through external benchmarking and partnership with automation vendors:


  • Perform research and survey on industrial best automation practices.
  • Select suppliers to implement improvement ideas using decision-making analysis tools.
  • Partner with suppliers to design solutions to meet improvement objectives.
  • Plan overall project within scope, budget, and timeline.

Lead implementation of automation solutions until production release:


  • Act as key interface to automation vendors throughout the project management lifecycle.
  • Continue to collaborate with key partners such as process & equipment owners, manufacturing to ensure improvement objectives are met.
  • Set up regular meetings with multi-functional teams to ensure successful production ramp.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor or Master in Mechanical, Electrical/Electronics, Mechatronics or automation-related fields.
  • Project management experience preferably relevant to automation equipment related fields.
  • 5 years of working experience as an Engineer in a semiconductor or manufacturing environment with an Automation background.
  • Strong problem-solving knowledge with a recognized systematic approach.
  • Good organizational skills and ability to follow assignments through to completion and meet timelines with commitment to tasks and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrate independent, teamwork, and hands-on attitude with safety and quality mentality.
  • Good communication skills.
