Business Function

Group Technology and Operations (T&O) enables and empowers the bank with an efficient, nimble and resilient infrastructure through a strategic focus on productivity, quality & control, technology, people capability and innovation. In Group T&O, we manage the majority of the Bank's operational processes and inspire to delight our business partners through our multiple banking delivery channels.

Responsibilities:

1. MariaDB or MySQL database administration and database management
2. Set up Master-Slave replication, Multi-Master replication, backup, point in time recovery, high available configurations and disaster recovery in a complex and dynamic production environment
3. Ensure performance, security, and availability of databases
4. Prepare documentations and specifications
5. Profile server resource usage, optimize and tweak as necessary
6. Collaborate with other team members and stakeholders
7. Write and optimize SQL statements
8. Write Linux shell scripts for maintenance and automation purposes
9. Add recommendations on architecture/design decisions that will ensure optimal application performance with MySQL/MariaDB
10. Maintaining production, UAT and dev databases without outage
11. Work night shift coverage (10pm to 7am) which include weekends and holidays

Requirements:

1. Strong proficiency in MariaDB or MySQL database management
2. Minimum 4 years of experience in MariaDB or MySQL database administration
3. Understanding of MySQL's underlying storage engines, such as InnoDB and MyISAM
4. Experience setting up Master-Slave replication, Multi-Master replication, backup, point in time recovery, high available configurations and disaster recovery in a complex and dynamic production environment
5. Provision MariaDB or MySQL instances
6. Ensure performance, security, and availability of databases
7. Prepare documentations and specifications
8. Collaborate with other team members and stakeholders
9. Knowledge of de-facto standards and best practices in MySQL or MariaDB
10. Proficient in writing and optimizing SQL statements
11. Proficient writing Linux shell scripts for maintenance and automation purposes
12. Strong communication skills and ability to add recommendations on architecture/design decisions that will ensure optimal application performance with MySQL/MariaDB
13. Position requires the ability to work various work schedules that support a 24x7 coverage may include nights, weekends and holidays
14. Familiarity with other databases such as PostgreSQL/EDB, MS SQL will be an added advantage
15. Knowledge of limitations in MySQL/MariaDB and their workarounds in contrast to other popular relational databases
16. Highly coachable and willingness to learn
17. Basic knowledge of Linux operating system (RedHat) and basic commands
18. Should be a good team player
19. Maintaining production, UAT and dev databases without outage
