Job description

The Senior Accounting Officer is responsible for managing and overseeing the daily accounting operations, preparing accurate financial reports, maintaining general ledger accuracy, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. The role requires a detailed understanding of accounting principles, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Financial Reporting and Analysis: Prepare, review, and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
    Analyze financial reports and provide insights to improve financial performance and accuracy.
    Ensure compliance with local and international accounting standards (e.g., GAAP, IFRS).
  2. Accounts Management: Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger activities.
    Ensure timely and accurate processing of invoices, payments, and payroll.
    Reconcile balance sheets and prepare journal entries for adjustments.
  3. Budgeting and Forecasting: Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and periodic forecasts.
    Monitor actuals vs. budget and investigate variances.
    Support strategic planning processes by providing financial analysis and projections.
  4. Audit and Compliance: Support internal and external audit processes by preparing relevant documentation and answering audit queries.
    Ensure compliance with tax regulations, including VAT, corporate tax, and other statutory filings.
    Maintain internal controls and recommend improvements for efficient financial operations.
  5. Process Improvement: Identify and implement accounting process improvements and automation opportunities.
    Collaborate with the IT and operations teams to enhance accounting systems and tools.
    Document processes and standard operating procedures for accounting functions.
  6. Team Leadership and Training: Guide and mentor junior accounting staff, providing technical support and training.
    Assign tasks, monitor progress, and support career development for team members.
    Foster a positive and collaborative work environment within the finance team.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • 4+ years of experience with business development, sales, or account management.
  • Experience managing large account portfolios.
  • Strong customer service and project management skills.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and CRM software.
  • Highly organized and solution-oriented.
  • Detail-oriented and able to prioritize.
  • Self-starter and able to work efficiently under pressure.
