Job Summary:

The Safety Transformation Lead will be responsible for working with our clients to develop, implement, and oversee comprehensive safety programs aimed at transforming and enhancing workplace safety culture. This role requires a strategic thinker with a passion for safety, a strong background in safety management, and the ability to lead cross-functional teams. As a trusted expert in your field, you will have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact by helping clients optimize their processes, manage risks cost-effectively and ensure safety.

Key Responsibilities:

Business Development and Client Management, you will take a leadership position in business development with existing and new clients as well as winning work. The main area of responsibility would be in relation to ERM’s Safety Transformation Services offering, however the candidate would also be encouraged to join multidisciplinary teams to develop winning client approaches. The ability to develop and expand client relationships that generate repeat business to grow the Health & Safety practice and broader ERM team is a pre-requisite as is a collaborative, self-starter mindset.

People Management:

  • Assist in the development of a technically strong team and assist in overseeing the team’s continuous improvement through mentoring and assisting with their practice networks around ERM, 
  • Improve or maintain development, training, engagement and retention of staff,
  • Improve collaboration opportunities of team members across the BU practices and show clear personal involvement in regional practices,
  • Create a culture around H&S that leads to incident free operations
  • Assist Leadership team in mentoring team members to become effective Safety Transformation consultants in the future.
  • Build strong collaborative relationships with other ERM employees.

Project Delivery:

  • Lead the delivery of solutions of the following aspects under safety culture and / or behavioural based safety; PSM; or operational excellence
  • Develop and Implement Safety Strategies:
    • Design and execute safety transformation strategies aligned with company goals and regulatory requirements.
    • Lead the development of safety policies, procedures, and training programs.
  • Risk Assessment and Management:
    • Conduct regular safety audits, risk assessments, and hazard analyses.
    • Identify potential safety risks and implement proactive measures to mitigate them.
  • Training and Development:
    • Develop and deliver safety training programs to employees at all levels.
    • Promote a culture of safety awareness and continuous improvement through ongoing education and engagement initiatives.
  • Performance Monitoring and Reporting:
    • Monitor and analyze safety performance metrics and trends.
    • Prepare and present regular reports on safety performance, incidents, and corrective actions to senior management.
  • Regulatory Compliance:
    • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal safety regulations and standards.
    • Keep abreast of industry best practices and regulatory changes to ensure continuous compliance.
  • Innovation and Continuous Improvement:
    • Drive innovation in safety practices and technologies.
    • Foster a culture of continuous improvement by identifying and implementing best practices and new safety initiatives.
  • Work directly with the client identifying pain points and developing and implementing effective solutions to meet their needs, as well as identify the root causes of client safety and productivity challenges by analysing a range of metrics and observations, and create, communicate and implement solutions
  • Lead and facilitate safety culture workshops and coaching sessions with senior management and C-suite
  • Manage and perform multiple projects within scope/budget/schedule expectations and ensure quality standards on project deliverables

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, Occupational Psychology or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in safety management or management consulting with previous exposure to operational risk management, operational excellence, safety and/or culture change, preferably in a leadership role.
  • Proven track record of successfully leading safety transformation initiatives in a complex organization.
  • Strong knowledge of safety regulations, standards, and best practices.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to influence and drive change across all levels of the organization.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
