Job description

ESH specialist will be appointed in logistics and FSM for the wastewater treatment facility. The incumbent’s overall responsibilities are to enhance fire and operational risks management and to ensure a safe and healthy work environment for all stakeholders at the workplace.

Job scope among other duties shall include:

  • Developing and implementing a framework of fire and ESH policies, risks management, training programs and compliant enforcement.
  • Being a proactive driver for compliance to regulatory requirements (MOM, NEA, PUB, SCDF, LTA) and safety and occupational health practices.
  • Being a safety expert advisor in engineering & process designs, and procurement of plant & machineries and services.
  • Maintaining certification of ISO 14001:2015 Environment Management System (EMS), ISO 45001:2018 and SS 651:2019 Occupational Health and Safety Management System (OHSMS) and BizSafe Level Star.
  • Promoting safety culture amongst stakeholders: Management and staff, operators, and supervisors and workmen of contractors to pre-empt and eliminate workplace injury and illness.
  • Planning and initiating events to promote fire and occupational safety and health awareness.
  • Being appointed to be Safe Management Officer(SMO) to assist in the implementation, co-ordination, and monitoring of Safe Management Measures at the workplace.

Routine Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Inspects the facilities, plant, and equipment to identify fire, safety, health, and environmental risks.
  • Checks and updates validity of operational licences & approvals and equipment certifications.
  • Walks the shop floor to monitor Process Owners’ compliance with safety procedures, occupational health safe practices and environmental pollution preventive measures.
  • Conducts risk assessments and investigates workplace accidents, and near missed incidents.
  • Prepares and submits investigation / inspection reports to document findings, recommendations and follow up on matters arising from these activities.
  • Ensures that GHS requirements and Safety Data Sheets are maintained and readily accessible when needed.
  • Prepares and schedules training to cover emergency procedures, workplace safety, and other relevant topics.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Safety, Occupational Safety and Health, or related field
  • Registered Safety Officer with MOM
  • FSM qualifications recognised by SCDF for registration as site FSM will be an advantage
  • 5-10 years of ESH experience in chemical, petrochemical, hazardous waste management, or other manufacturing environment.
  • Extensive knowledge of relevant legislative requirements, regulations, and best practices.
  • Experience in logistics and fleet management is preferred.
  • Proactive and meticulous personality with good analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Good interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Organised and able to work in a fast-paced environment.
