Job description

Our client is seeking a proactive and experienced Safety Manager to lead the company’s Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) initiatives. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, implementing, and enforcing safety policies to ensure compliance with all statutory and regulatory requirements. This role is crucial in fostering a culture of safety within the organization and ensuring the well-being of all employees.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Workplace Safety & Health (WSH) Compliance:
    1. Ensure compliance with WSH Act, MOM regulations, and other safety-related legislations.
    2. Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and risk assessments to identify potential hazards.
    3. Develop and implement Safety Management Systems (SMS) to enhance workplace safety standards.
    4. Maintain and update risk assessment documentation, safe work procedures, and incident reports.
  2. Incident Management & WICA Compliance:
    1. Investigate accidents, near-miss incidents, and workplace injuries.
    2. Submit and manage Workplace Injury Compensation Act (WICA) claims, ensuring proper documentation and follow-ups.
    3. Coordinate with relevant authorities (e.g., MOM, WSH Council) and conduct root cause analysis to prevent recurrence.
  3. Training & Safety Awareness:
    1. Conduct WSH training, toolbox meetings, and safety briefings for employees and subcontractors.
    2. Ensure all workers and supervisors receive proper safety induction and certification training.
    3. Organize emergency drills and crisis response training.
  4. Government-Related Safety Grants & Compliance:
    1. Apply for relevant government safety grants and funding schemes, such as:
    2. WSH Innovation Awards & Grants.
    3. Productivity Solutions Grant (PSG) for safety enhancements.
    4. WSH Training Subsidies for upskilling safety officers.
    5. Ensure compliance with LTA, JTC, and BCA safety requirements for construction projects.

Requirements:

  • WSH Officer (WSHO) certification registered with MOM (Mandatory).
  • Diploma/Degree in Workplace Safety & Health, Environmental Science, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5-8 years of experience in safety management within the construction or civil engineering sector.
  • Strong knowledge of MOM safety regulations, ISO 45001, and risk assessment frameworks.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in safety management software and Microsoft Office Suite.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Fire Safety Manager (FSM) certification is an advantage.
  • Experience in managing government infrastructure projects and statutory board requirements.
