About the jobWe’re looking for a Resident Technical Officer (Electrical, EHV Cable) to join our Singapore team.
As a Resident Technical Officer (Electrical, EHV Cable), you will be responsible for Electrical works (such as installation, testing & commissioning, maintenance, rectification) related to Extra High Voltage (EHV) cables. The RTO ensures that all electrical works undertaken by cable contractors comply with approved specifications, codes, standards, and safety regulations.
What you’ll doThe role responsibilities include:
- Supervise and monitor the installation, testing, commissioning, maintenance and rectification of EHV cables (230kV or higher).
- Familiar with EHV cable installation and testing procedures and standards.
- Proficiency in interpreting electrical drawings, schematics, and technical documentation.
- Monitor daily site activities related to EHV cable works undertaken by contractors to ensure they align and comply with method statements, risk assessments, project plans, timelines and quality standards.
- Prepare daily site progress reports to update works progress.
- Ensure all electrical works comply with relevant codes, standards, and safety guidelines.
- Coordinate with contractors for safe execution of site works, including setting up of work permits, and ensuring compliance with safe working practices.
- Monitor and enforce safety regulations on-site, ensuring that all workers adhere to workplace safety requirements.
- Ensure the safe handling of high-voltage materials, tools, and equipment.
- Report and document any incidents or accidents, taking appropriate measures to prevent reoccurrence.
- Liaise with project stakeholders, including contractors, consultants, engineers, and regulatory authorities to resolve technical and engineering issues on-site.
- Attend site and office meetings to provide updates on work progress and highlight any risks or issues.
- Ensure the proper execution of electrical tests and measurements and witness all site tests performed by contractors.
What you’ll have- Diploma/Degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in supervising electrical works, specifically related to Extra High Voltage (EHV) cable installations and testing.
- Ability to work in outdoor conditions and varying weather, including confined spaces and construction environments.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and overtime, if required, and remain contactable during standby periods.
